Re: RIP BB King

Words cannot be said of the loss this world has had.  A gentle giant and the soul of the blues world will be sadly missed.  Us guitar players need to pick up our guitars today and honor the man who has helped changed the world with his soul and his soulful playing....

Gone but NEVER forgotten!!!

Forever the king BB King!!!

Re: RIP BB King

The Music World has lost the most important and influential person to grace guitar based music, who gave birth to Blues, Soul and virtually every form of modern music too, he was the Father of Blues and one of the very few true legends.

His name will burn eternally through time as the founder of Blues, he was gigantic for music and a worthy ambassador The Blues could not have wished for.

I'm so sad today missing that face and smile and just excellent voice not to mention the one and only original blues guitar player

second to none, never to be surpassed in legendary status

Glad I had the chance to catch him performing back in 1999 and in 2000.  B.B. was an icon!  R.I.P. B.B.!

PBS has put up a remembrance page with a collection of interviews, (including a 5 min audio from 1986 aired for the first time in Feb '15 on Blank on Blank), and Mr. B.B. King's debut performance in 1982 at Austin City Limits.

Re: RIP BB King

R.I.P. B.B. King! I never got to see him play live but I've been a fan for about 25 years! He was truly the king of the blues. Matter a fact if you look up the blues now all that should come up is a pic of B.B.!:) The speakers in my car were crying from the unbelievable sounds from Lucille! I got nothing but thumbs up sitting in traffic!! If they don't bury him with that guitar I hope it can be shared by Joe, Eric, etc living guitarist just so that that sound it makes stays alive for ever!

Very nice thought, but I would bet both Joe and Eric would tell you, only the hands of BB King could make Lucille sound like that.  Thankfully we have albums and video's.  The Kings music will never die.

The only thing we deserve, is an opportunity.  Everything else has to be earned.

Re: RIP BB King

RIP Mr. BB King your blues will live forever!! Thank You

Re: RIP BB King

I had the good fortune to see B.B. once, at Chastain Park Amphitheater north of Atlanta on 6/21/06 during his 80th birthday tour with... Joe.
Wonderful show!

Devout Joe follower since he BLEW ME AWAY opening for Frampton in Atlanta in 2003!!!
1/3 through the 1st song I told my wife "Holy s_it, this guy is good!" and have never said that about another opening performer.

Thanks whirlwind ... I won't fill up the Forum Server hard drive with links smile ... but I remember this 60 Minute interview (I taped it on VHS ... have it somewhere in my piles of no labeled tapes.) It's from 1993.  Ed Bradley on the bus with Mr. B.B. King.

Couldn't find the whole interview on YouTube ... but this is a nice 4+ minute clip I found on 60 Minutes's website.  They added a nice backstory article about the interview and posted it up yesterday.

The last minute of the video is very poignant.

(If a CBS Video Anywhere pop up ad appears first .. just hit the X to close the ad ... don't need it to view.)

(I'm hoping they may re-air it tomorrow.)
