Topic: RIP BB King

Riley B. King passed away peacefully in his sleep in his Las Vegas home at 9:40 p.m. PDT.

There is not enough that can be said about BB King's contribution to the blues and to music in general. It is immeasurable.
He was a great mentor to so many players, including Joe, and an influence on millions.

Rest Peacefully dear King, and we'll see that your grave is kept clean. Not forgotten.

Re: RIP BB King

Rest in peace BB. Just feel so honored I was able to see him live a couple years ago, a memory i'll always cherish. I send my thoughts out to his family during this time. What an amazing career that man had, changed so many lives and really kept the blues alive. RIP

Re: RIP BB King

Amen to the above, BB was truly a legend and will be missed by blues fans and musicians alike. The BBC breakfast show has just shown a moving tribute to him, which speaks volumes for the esteem in which he is held.

I'm so glad to have seen him a few years ago. You'll be sadly missed BB.

RIP

Heard this news on the drive in to work this morning. UK Radio 2 played the BB & U2 song as a tribute, so I turned it off and put on Chains & Things as that's what I want to remember him for. RIP BB, the sky should be blue all over the world today...................................

Re: RIP BB King

Yes, truly sad news indeed.
I pray that his family can find a way to come back together at this difficult time.

Re: RIP BB King

Today we lost a music legend and an American treasure.  He was an inspiration to an untold number of people across the world.  He leaves behind a lifetime of music and memories for so many that will never be forgotten.  RIP Mr. King.

Re: RIP BB King

Can't think of a better tribute than the man's own words....

“I’ve always tried to defend the idea that the blues doesn’t have to be sung by a person who comes from Mississippi, as I did,” he said in the 1988 book Off the Record: An Oral History of Popular Music. “People all over the world have problems. And as long as people have problems, the blues can never die.”

When life gives you lemons; don't make lemonade.
Give back the lemons.  Why were the lemons free?  What's wrong with the lemons?
Do Not trust the lemons...

Re: RIP BB King

Sad news. RIP Mr. King. My earliest exposure to the blues was BB on TV in the 60's.

Play some cards & drink black coffee,
How I’d love to see you smile....

Re: RIP BB King

BB used to come to our area every year.  Loved it when he came with his friend Buddy Guy.  Buddy a star in his own right would open for BB and always said he was honored to open for the great BB King. RIP a truly great man.

The only thing we deserve, is an opportunity.  Everything else has to be earned.
