Re: Bad weather in OKC (5/6/15)

The Tornadoes were south of me in Moore area. The people in Moore, Bridgecreek and South OKC have to be sick of the May rage. Flash flooding is much wider spread. Some areas up to 9 inches of rain. One of my employees got flooded. Sirens were going off all evening and although I never went to the fraidy hole I put the guitars in just in case. The radar warnings were tracking the storms very accurately so no need to hunker down. We have had a mild season up till last night but we all know the drill. Forecast for several more days of it. We need the rain so it isn't all bad.

Re: Bad weather in OKC (5/6/15)

Glad to hear your neck of the woods has been spared.

I remember I was 6 or 7 ... visiting my grandmother outside of Chicago ... and seeing a well formed tornado from a bedroom window ... as she yelled at us to get in the closet (she probably wanted us to do that for many reasons ... I'm sure mainly just get a break from us rammy kids for a moment.)

It had to be miles away (and probably small in magnitude)  ... but I remember thinking it was the coolest thing at the time ... (Wizard of OZ and all) ... dark sky, lightning, neighbor's trash cans rolling down the street, distant sparks ... I learned later were from utility lines.  I shutter nowadays thinking of the possibility.

Probably one of the few positives of living in New Jersey.  (And at least we get a little more advanced warnings with the Nor'easters and occasional Hurricanes.)

Best wishes with the Season ... hope some calm rainstorms come your way.

Re: Bad weather in OKC (5/6/15)

I spent an hour on the chaser site watching those fools see how close they could get. One in Moore finally ran for cover, headed to the Walmart lot and went inside. Said he didn't have a death wish. He was dead downwind of one of the fiercer cells. Another got his car windows bashed in by baseball size hail. Quite a sight seeing it from the dashcam.
Glad you were spared again Jim.

Re: Bad weather in OKC (5/6/15)

I survived last night,  even with taking two unnecessary trips to the fraidy hole cause they kept blowing the sirens ........... but that's OK, Im more worried bout the next two days ..........especially Saturday ..... it could get really really nasty Saturday.

Hoping they side step you ... (and the paths they take are in open non-developed areas.)

Let us know how it all goes.

Re: Bad weather in OKC (5/6/15)

Well,  thankfully, today turned out to be a non event ....   weather people missed this one, and that's a good  thing.   We have a very slight chance of storms tomorrow, but I'm to the point of not caring.    And man, I need a break, weather fatigue is settin in , from watching the TV weather,  storm chasers,  NWS and SPC warnings .....  just wanna put some music on,  open a good beer and forget about it.

Re: Bad weather in OKC (5/6/15)

Glad to hear!  Our news mentionded today's storms headed into Texas.

Yes ... music ... with a cocktail ... enjoy.  A little Joe ... then perhaps some calming Floyd ... but maybe not try the Dark.Side / Wizard of Oz sync up at this time. ... Bad joke.

Glad things weren't bad for u and jim m.!
