Topic: Ever wonder why some halls sound great and others not?

A new state-of-the-acoustic-art hall is being built here. This is an in-depth discussion of acoustic properties in concert venues. Why some are great and what the difference is.  I will select my concerts with this in mind in the future.

Re: Ever wonder why some halls sound great and others not?

For my two-penn'th; just because a hall has great sound, it doesn't necessarily mean it has a great atmosphere. In my little corner of the world, there's no doubting that the main hall of Gateshead Sage is acoustically superior, though a little sterile in atmosphere but Newcastle's City Hall (over the river) has far more atmosphere, and on a good night isn't too far behind in the sound quality.

When life gives you lemons; don't make lemonade.
Give back the lemons.  Why were the lemons free?  What's wrong with the lemons?
Do Not trust the lemons...

A lot of this has to do with where you are sitting in the venue as well....Although some venues are just horrid...like WAMU in Seattle
