Topic: Very sad news today......

Unfortunately, this information appears to be true and accurate. A message on B. B. King's official website says, “I am in home hospice care at my residence in Las Vegas. Thanks to all for your well wishes and prayers.”

Sending prayers to you BB!!!

Re: Very sad news today......

So sorry to hear this today. Other than his diabetes, I don't know if B.B. suffers from any other ailments, but unfortunately when hospice is called in, it generally means we're at the end.
What an absolutely incredible and influential career he has had. He truly is one of the greatest and will be sorely missed.

Why don't we eliminate all the warning labels and let things sort themselves out?

Re: Very sad news today......

The news about BB King really hits home for me as he is the same age as my mom, for whom I am caregiver. The elderly are so vulnerable, no matter how much money or fame they may have. I just hope that he is surrounded by love and peace as he prepares to exit this world into the next. I'm praying for you BB, and I'm not a very religious person.  I hope Joe is able to stop by for a visit while he's in Las Vegas... it may be the last time he'll have a chance to see him.

Re: Very sad news today......

My 90 year old father passed away last December and for the last two months was under home care of Hospice.  Wonderful organization.  While it was a difficult time for the family, they were there anytime they were needed for my Dad or his wife.  It's going to happen to all of us some day, thankful for Hospice.

The only thing we deserve, is an opportunity.  Everything else has to be earned.

Very sad indeed. I'm so thankful I got to see him perform a couple years ago. I will forever cherish that memory. Well wishes to Mr. King

Re: Very sad news today......

I knew BB was not well, because he has been too quiet lately. How ever long he has left, best wishes to him for living those days in comfort. Hospice care is all about making the patient comfortable and giving the patient the best quality of life possible. Being a diabetic after many years affects other organs in your body, so BB seems to be wearing down.

Just to share what I've recently learned - The word hospice is like a big umbrella that covers many medical services and different treatment plans, whether the patient is in a facility or at the patient's home. One thing I know for sure - there are some wonderful and caring individuals who are in this line of work.

My own dad, who is 91, has been on home hospice since December. Hospice seems to have changed from what I previously thought.  I've shared some stories with others whose parents have been on hospice for 2 years. It individually depends on the patient's medical situation.  Some are terminally ill and they may have one major issue that is going to kill them, like cancer that has metastasized. But in other situations, there may be several declining health issues simply related to old age, that an aging patient can't fight anymore, so their end of life is close. Also, a home hospice situation is for those that want to die in their own home.

Good vibes being sent BB's way for a peaceful exit, whenever that may be...
