Topic: Best of CDs

So I have noticed on Ebay that there are some compilation best of Joe CDs out there. Is there anything new on these that wouldn't be on his normal CDs (new or exclusive songs or different versions of his songs?) don't want to buy something unless it's new or unique. Thanks!

Re: Best of CDs

Mostly garbage.   I also (continuously) see ridiculously high priced autograph stuff that most of us here know are as basic a signature as can come from Joe.  Waste of time and money, in my opinion, unless one simply cannot help oneself.

Exceptions: "Bloodline" CD's (I have to believe some are used, despite "new, unsealed" listing).  Many used to be priced too high (demand notwithstanding), now seems more reasonable, although I do not track the bids or removal of listings.  A "Best Of Joe Bonamassa" Japanese import was available, not sure about now (I could use one myself one of these days), plus I cannot recall if there was a track not available regularly.  They had the fancy "strip" or whatever it is called.

I'd suggest searching this forum (someone else can link the topics, perhaps) for those rare "guest appearances" on other artists' offerings, etc., those are where you will find the unique stuff.  Someone simply copying widely available tracks and using today's tech to make something appear unique... BAH! roll mad As an ex-wife told me once, "Get a life!" tongue

ps-Michael (if it's unique he has it or is looking for it cool), beat me to the punch (I always type too much!), Thanks!

Re: Best of CDs

From my experience looking at things on eBay,I would bet there are a lot of fake CDs put out there.

Re: Best of CDs

Classic Rock #167 featured Joe and had a 12 CD that was "hand picked" by CR writers and Kevin Shirley, tracks from Ballad of John Henry, Blue and Evil and including BCC's One Last Soul.

Good luck if you can find this; I'm still waiting to get my copy back (a risk you take when getting people hooked onto Joe).

Re: Best of CDs

Best of?! yikes None fit the title for me, official or not. Balled [sic] Of John Henry?! I hope it is just the Ebay listing that is incorrect.  What was the name of that magazine Jane? Spelling of other obvious ripoff offerings always generages suspicions...and unique to me are the guest appearances on others' products (Jim Suhler & Monkey Beat, Derek Sherinian, 6 String Theory, etc.) and tributes (Tommy Bolin, Les Paul, etc.), plus of course those real rarities (I'm still too lazy to link the recent topic threads).  That 2 CD set listed does have a great lineup, but fake or not nothing much unique about individual tracks.  Live authorized bootlegs traded/shared are definitely unique, though of course not official, yet real treasures to myself and many others for whom the listening exceeds the value of merely duplicated copies opened to auction bidding illegally (or even legally).  A Best Of with One Last Soul or Hadrian's Wall from Black Country Communion catalog, but no Song Of Yesterday???!!! You've got to be kidding me! roll No I Know Where I Belong?  No Colour And Shape? No The River or Burning Hell???!!!  Missing Beth & Joe doing I'd Rather Go Blind???!!! No Mountain Time or ANYTHING from So, It's Like That???  You've GOT to be kidding me!!  Maybe one of these daze I'll be the unofficial (or maybe Official) Dick Picker a la The Grateful Dead's Dick's Picks for the best of the best (surely with a bunch of Joe Beacon and Phil Cornblatt stuff if approved by J & R also cool) big_smile

Ebay is, generally speaking, the worst place for Joe music.  Other stuff, ok, best, where else can you find some things, but it's almost always a one person profit seeker-the kind who don't treasure a Joe Bonamassa signature or ticket or collectible, rather just the (like I said, often ridiculous troll line test the waters see who is a P.T. Barnum sucker bourne in the auction minutes and hours bs) profit they can turn

Re: Best of CDs

^The link doesn't work, Jane, but, I know what you guys are referring to, and yes, it was, and also yes, it is "official," as in approved for inclusion accompanying (and helping promote) the magazine (and anything/everything JB) sales.  I kind of draw a fine line between promotional and official, with the latter being labeled as such outright for separate non-promotional sale, physical CD or digital.  They (J & R Adventures) have licensed either case, so yup, it's OFFICIAL! big_smile  But, I was poking, joking or not, at ANY of the so-called best of's, official or snot...

The Japan Best Of surely has to be counted as official, also.  Somebody must have a bunch of the copies incue-baiting somewhere...

Re: Best of CDs

Maybe the "best of" cd's should be arranged in groups

All Sloe Gin's one cd, then all the Mountain Time's another cd, then all...

You get the idea.
The you can hear back to back how the songs have evolved.
