If Joe were to do another tribute tour I think it would be more fitting for it to be a tribute to British blues. For instance, a full set of songs from Cream, Free, Rory Gallagher, Zeppelin, etc.

+1.  Not sure why Joe would be compared to SRV, or why he would want to do a tribute to SRV.  Joe does not play "Texas Blues".  There are a couple early Joe tracks, that if you really stretch, it maybe sounds a little "Texas".
Both great guitar players, in my opinion that is where the comparison ends.  To me it's like comparing Ty Cobb to Nolan Ryan.  Both great baseball players.  One was a great hitter the other a great pitcher.

Totally agree.
And I would pay good money to see that tribute!!
You would see so much more passion in those songs for sure.

........at Alpine Valley.  Why not put together a 25th tribute show.  Hell, call up Guy, Clapton, Cray, and Vaughan too?  I can almost hear Sweet Home Chicago playing again!

That would be awesome!  I'm in.  Hey, Joe, are you listening? big_smile

At Alpine is a great idea. How awesome would that be?

I was thinking about this more on my way to work this morning...an Alpine Valley Tribute show that is.  I guess it wouldn't be about Joe playing SRV because Joe cut his teeth on Texas Blues.  We all understand where a majority of Joe's influences came from.  That said, I think a Tribute to a legend like SRV deserves to have the toast given by the best of the best.  And that would certainly include Mr. B.  With the list above you could even add Satch and Vai, to the list too.  For they are legends in their own right even though they are about as far from Texas Blues as you can get.  So in the end, and all the opinions aside, it sure would be cool to see/hear that tribute!

Isn't it usually in April they start releasing the Fall Tour dates for us in USA/Canada?

Re: Why doesn't Joe cover SRV?

Yes, if the past remains he future...and now IF they are going to be any in November-December...I guess I'd be surprised to see none, but only mildly surprised.  Holiday period being down time and time for honetown [sic] gigs perhaps. hmm
