Forgive me if this is old news but I found out where the instrumental "Django" came from
Django Reinhardt Vous et Moi https://youtu.be/vWYOKFi8pd8
I sense a theme running though the You & Me (vous et moi) album.

I've been around here long enough to remember when "You and Me" was released and I remember hearing bits of the story from Joe in a radio interview and then doing some research to put the pieces together. From the "Old Topics" section: https://forum.jbonamassa.com/viewtopic. … 60&p=2
"Django" is still a favorite of mine in it's various versions over the years. Not everyone knows the story behind it since there are so many new members so thanks for bringing it up again!
as a newbie fan i didn't know that so thanks for the info

I love "Django" too. I can play all of Joe's versions on the guitar. I saw Joe last week at the Hammersmith Odeon and he incorporated "Django" into "Oh Beautiful" and it was perfect. I am working on a version that will use all versions of "Django" (Y&M, LFNIP, RAH, BTNY and TDF)
This clip of Joe explaining how he came to write Django is very cool...I remembered this and was able to find it on you tube.
It's from the RAH dvd.
Don't let the 22 minute length deter you, the explanation and guitar doodling are right at the beginning:

Yeah, there was no way of stopping after the Django explanation, lol! Watched the entire thing. It's been a while since I had seen it. Thanks for bringing it back for us to see, Bill.

Thanks for posting Bill .. I remember this as well .. great interview
Django was the perfect intro for the RAH show. As Joe noted, I sat listening to the intro with that goose bump feeling that indeed, "somethin big was about to happen" .. and it did.
Cheers!
Couldn't stop watching and listening till the end too. Brought back the time when I first fall in love with Joe's music. Thanks again, Bill!
Ever since that show Django has been a total goosebump moment for me.

Django is just so evocative for me. The version on you and me and every other one just gives me pause every time. A hint that joes greatness was about to explode
Thanks for posting that video, I watched it twice and got several friends to watch it too.
India is another instrumental which Joe used to play. I think it was played on an acoustic on the studio album. As Joe's music has progressed, India got shorter and shorter and is now omitted completely. I think Django replaced India as the seague in to Mountain Time.
It seams that there are songs that will always, in one form or another, be in Joe's repertoire (Django, Mountain Time, John Henry, Sloe Gin) but as his live shows evolve and new music comes about, staples will fall from favour or evolve themselves with Joe's style. For example Django migrated from Just Got Paid to Mountain Time and now, unless it was a fluke on the night I saw him in London 2 weeks ago, has migrated to the middle of Oh Beautiful (just before the third verse).
Ever since that show Django has been a total goosebump moment for me.

An honest to God "lump in the throat" moment whenever I hear it...hearing those first chords live is definitely one of my favorite musical moments EVER!
Well I can't let this topic go without chiming in.
I knew of Django Reinhardt before I knew Joe. When I first heard Joe do "Django" I instantly loved it and wishfully assumed it was in some way related to the man, as I later found out it was. I loved it even more. It was the Royal Albert Hall version that I heard first and because of that it will likely always be my favourite version. It is also the first of all Joe's music that I learned to play on guitar.
The thrill will never be gone.
Ya, I know!
