Didn't play it in Amsterdam or London.
He didn't play it on the KTBA cruise.
Well that makes me sick to my stomach and almost makes me not want to go the concert. I LOVE THAT SONG! I've already bought the tickets... so I guess I will have to suck it up I better not hear the "Just got paid" cover tune instead of "Happier Times" - I will be PISSED!
He's not playin just got paid either, but if you got back to Set List and Show Reviews on the main page you'll get a good idea of what to expect!

yeah i was gutted he didn't play happier times, just got paid or so many roads!
I just want to see/hear Joe live.
I've been blessed since 2011 seeing him live.
I'll enjoy his playing what ever he brings to the table.

The London shows were always going to be along the lines of the Muddy Wolf specials so were going to be mainly "new" songs in the set. A welcome change for us regulars but personally I would have liked The Great Flood in the middle. However, the October dates may be a more familiar set but I doubt we will hear JGP.

it is a great song. I would like to recommend the Tour De Force - Borderline cd set for a most excellent version in the meantime.
i do hope he plays it at your gig, it is one of his best songs ever IMHO. most definitely one of his best Blues songs.
if you want to start a campaign to get support for the song in the set, let me know, i will pile on
Agree with Borderline recommendation. As long as we are putting in our request...I would like Pain and Sorrow, then Happier Times in that order.:) That's the way it is on Borderline CD and that's what I've been playing every morning while I'm getting ready for work for the past month. Nothing like a little cup of Joe at full volume at 5:30am.

It will be interesting to see which songs make up the encore for the next tour if JGP is retired, I was expecting something 'familiar' as an encore at Hammersmith but Joe stuck to his game plan and went with the new songs.

don't get me wrong I thoroughly enjoyed seeing Joe live, but it's always better to hear familiar songs as opposed to songs that are new

Welcome to the forum! .. great intro
Enjoy the topics and wonderful folks around here
I'm sure the show will over-ride any disappointment and/or illness
I'll look forward to ur review after the show
Cheers!
In the Autumn Tour I would like to hear "Happier Times" vs. " The Great Flood" instead of "John Henry" and as an encore " Different Shades Of Blue" vs. "Just Got Paid". But I suppose the setlist will be like the current Spring Tour ?! ....
I feel your pain. I miss not having "I'll Take Care of You" on the 2 cd/dvd live with Beth Hart. It was the song that got me interested in both artists. I bought everything each has released largely because of that song. I know some here feel the same way about Slow Gin.
For some reason I'll Take Care of You is not on Live from Amsterdam and it ruins my watching the DVD. I almost never watch it because I can't stop wondering WHY that song is not on there. It gives me the blues just to watch the DVD, I really should give my copy of the dvd to a library so others can watch it.
Not having the song on there has sort of broken a "spell". His upcoming concert is among the most expensive in our area and I am not going. But I honestly think that had I'll Take Care of You been on the Beth Hart Live in Amsterdam DVD then I would have been willing to spend almost a hundred dollars to see him!
Favorite songs mean a lot - try dropping Sloe Gin from the set list and I bet there would be a giant uproar (and there are 7 live versions of Sloe Gin!)

I'm happy with whatever Joe decides to put in his setlist. Musicians and bands pick their set list for a reason and frequently it is to support whatever new material they have out at the moment. I think it's exciting to hear new stuff. I know that no matter what Joe plays it is going to sound great. Can't imagine having the pressure from people all the time demanding a need to perform their most favorite song. Glad I'm not a touring musician. Much better to sit in the audience and enjoy whatever comes.

Yup, I started with Sloe Gin, then moved on to John Henry as my favorite, then Pain and Sorrow, then...Every time I see Joe I get a new favorite, I must be up to 55-60 favorites by now. If he doesn't play them all the next time I go see him I'm going to stomp my feet and cry. Oh yea, I almost for got...Then I'll complain about ticket prices.

+1 Bob and Natasha. Well said. It's not near as bad here, but on Facebook I often read the comments with my teeth clenched (and then wonder why I read the comments in the first place).
The problem/challenge, for fans who tie their entire concert experience on hearing one or two songs, will only become worse as Joe's catalog grows and the number of "gotta hear" songs exceeds what could even be played in a two hour show. With those expectations, lots of people are going to go home disappointed.
I was having a pre-show discussion with a VERY excited fan during the Tour de Force shows...I believe it was before Shepherd's Bush. I ran into him after the show and he was ranting about how the show "sucked". I was aghast...I had just seen an absolutely spectacular show and this guy didn't like it. I was so curious as to why, I started quizzing him. Ultimately the reason came out: "He didn't play Sloe Gin"!
I understand disappointment at not hearing your favorite song at a live performance, but letting it ruin the entire show/experience seems very odd to me.
