VOLKER STRIFLER BAND WINS NORTH BAY MUSIC AWARDS

CELEBRATE W/NORBAY WINNERS AND FANS @

THE LAST DAY SALOON, SANTA ROSA FRIDAY OCTOBER 26TH 9:30

DOORS @ 8:00 TICKETS $10 AT THE DOOR

Since popping onto the Bay Area music scene in the late '90's, Volker
Strifler has created a name for himself with his singeing guitar
licks, soulfully expressive vocals and expertly crafted songwriting.
Having just won the North Bay Music Awards in the Blues category and
with ever increasing radio air play, across the country and abroad,
being tagged as "California's best kept secret" is a distinction that
will not likely last long.

The Dance Goes On, on Blue RockIt Records, is his third solo release
and shows just how talented he is; not only as a guitar player and
vocalist, but as a songwriter and producer as well. Taking a low-key
non-purist approach to the blues, he is one of the few artists that is
truly both original and rooted. These days "blues" is a feeling more
than a style and, wisely, Strifler recognizes that. Anchored in blues
his tunes have jazzy sounds surrounding smooth contemporary lyrics.

While Volker has recorded and/or toured with many top modern blues
artists like Robben Ford, The Ford Blues Band, Chris Cain, Michael
Osborn, and Garth Webber, he has also spent his time working with, and
learning from, blues legends like Lowell Fulson. Robben Ford says
"Volker Strifler is a beautiful guitarist and a powerful singer. He is
also a wonderful songwriter in the blues genre, which is an important
contribution in keeping the blues vital.

He is always exploring new avenues for his interpretation of music
using a unique blend of styles and instruments that move and impress
audiences with every performance. To him, reaching out and pushing the
envelope to find a new understanding of this vital music is as
important as respecting long-standing traditions. He brings body to
his arrangements that interlace, as well as, go beyond different
genres. His respect for the originators is obvious in everything he
does but so is his respect for modern innovators. Ultimately though,
where Volker is concerned, it is the VSB that shows off the magic
possible when music is played with conviction to originality.

Catch the band at their Ad Hoc NORBAY celebration welcoming all NORBAY
winners and fans alike on October 26th at the Last Day Saloon [120
Fifth St, Santa Rosa; 9:30 pm $10]. You will be treated to a special
acoustical performance featuring new music, as well as upbeat dance
songs to down-home back porch blues kicking off the Halloween Weekend.
