Topic: Joe and the Axe-FX...

Well, this photo Joe posted on Instagram has ignited gear forums all over the place... wink

What I am interested in though, is the backstory, so I am hoping the man himself can chime in with it.  Was it actually used in the show?  Something a fan brought to sign?  Something Joe found at the back of the stage?  A backup solution being tested out?

I am a long time Axe-FX user and love the device.  In fact, I have several JoeB-esque presets on there that I use often.

Given that Mr. B uses Palmer speaker emulators for FOH signal is not so different from using the Axe for signal processing...

Re: Joe and the Axe-FX...

Axe Effects is a great device... I was holding my friend John's the other day and thought I would wind up the kids on instagram.  I use all vintage tweed amps now and given the fractal is great for more complex rigs it is not on my radar as anything I could use for live sound.  My twins have 6 dials on them.. Including the second volume that I dont use!! The fractal is too complicated for me...

Cool. Thanks for the clarification Joe.

I love my Axe-FX, but I could not totally give up my tube amps either.  Some days I like complexity, some days I like simplicity... Horses for courses, and nothing wrong with either.

Re: Joe and the Axe-FX...

Glad to see JB chimed in

Devan as soon as I read the caption on that instgram, I knew he was joking

With the line of "what's left of the signal"

Oh how I love humour like that.

Re: Joe and the Axe-FX...

I used to scoff at digital stuff, but the Kemper Profiling amp and the Axe-FX have made me a true believer. I will not buy either because I cannot justify that piece of kit for what I do, but if you need it and can use their features, pull the trigger.

Re: Joe and the Axe-FX...

Update: Joe's friend 'John' mentioned above actually posted on the Fractal Forums the other day with a whole host of pics of the 'vintage guitar' tryout session that Joe, John and Joe's tech Mike did.  Some awesome shots.

John actually lent Joe his '58 burst that Joe apparently played on stage at the Hammersmith the other night.
