Re: Keeping the Blues Alive at Sea reports (start page 6)

I put them here just because they're cruise related. Figured it would be easier for people to find if they're wondering about the cruise experience in general.

Looks like I've been putting them in the wrong spot. smile  I'll move them to the show reviews area.

Not sure whether to post videos of the other artists that performed on the cruise here, in the review section or in the other artists section. Any ideas? Just don't want to put stuff in the wrong place.

Personally, speaking only for myself, I want to look in

Joe Bonamassa Forum ? Show Reviews and Set Lists

https://forum.jbonamassa.com/viewforum.php?id=10, mainly because they won't get buried underneath general runaway or tangential generic general topics.  People tend to post much less there anyway, so going to the section brings them to those with literacy skills or curious (logical or random) meanderings. smile

nmagcorn posted setlists under "show reviews and setlists".  I'm not enough of a wordsmith to tell you more than the shows themselves were phenomenal, especially Rock Candy Funk Party. I was stoked to finally get to see them play. The highlights (which were captured by her videos) were the additional artists brought up to perform with Joe's band, including Robben Ford.

So what happened to the videos?  Saw them here this morning, but did not have time to watch.  Going to check them out tonight and they have disappeared.  Where should I be looking?

The only thing we deserve, is an opportunity.  Everything else has to be earned.

All videos from the cruise are on the "Show Reviews and Setlists" page under the heading "Keeping The Blues Alive at Sea" cruise.

"Len and I had the greatest time on the Blues Cruise last week. What an outstanding lineup of bands whose musical performances were truly amazing. We hated to see it come to an end and are very much looking forward to next years cruise. Our thanks to all the fans that came out to support the cruise and made it such a great success. We hope you all had a great time as well. How nice it was to once again see some of the Joe fans that we have had the pleasure to meet in the past and to have the opportunity to meet some new fans as well. A special thanks to Natasha for filming so many of the shows and posting them for all to view."

Joe's mom is one of the sweetest people I know and always so appreciative of all the fans. It's no wonder Joe loves her so much. So happy we got a chance to spend a little time with her and Len. They are both such wonderful people to be around.

Really nice comments from Mrs. B.    Natasha and Phil are the bomb for recording and filming.   Thanks so much. I have been watching on my big tv at home and its like a concert. such a steady hand.

Re: Keeping the Blues Alive at Sea reports (start page 6)

I wrote this yesterday, but it wouldn't post. I guess I timed out, so I'll try to be brief. lol

My adventure began with a ride to Florida with Albert Castiglia ( love him), then a week in Naples with my Granddaughter. Back to Miami on Sunday to meet Lydia and Maggie before heading to the Riverwalk Blues Fest to catch Albert's set to close the fest. The Cornblatts came in Monday night and we all prepared to cruise smile

We headed to the pier mid-day and began the process required before boarding. There we met Patty, Ann, Ron, Liz, and her husband. Once on ship we headed to the pool deck for an energetic set by Ana Popovic as we waited for our rooms to be ready. After we got settled and did the mandatory safety drill it was time for Robert Randolph and the Family Band. Always a blast and the first hint that certain women are NOT as shy as I thought because there they were, up on stage, dancing with abandon. smile I went to see a bit of JD Simo and enjoyed him too. He's like Jack White meets Jack Black. Good set.

Since Joe was due on the pool stage at 8pm, the group took turns keeping a lock on stage front. There were 5 venues, and something for everybody. I was actually shocked to meet people who were there specifically for other artists like John Hiatt and Robben Ford. Smart choices by whomever chose the line-up. Joe's set was as good as any concert I've seen. The band can do it all nobody got knocked over by the rock & roll offered by Mother Nature. After that it was a taste of Steve Costello then off to Joanne Shaw Taylor to end my night. Lot's of fun after that until 3a.m. lol

Weds was Key West. A short stroll around town, but I'm not a shopper or a drinker, so I was back on the ship quickly. I have waited many years to see Ryan McGarvey again and he made me very happy! He Logan and Sam were my frequent hang buddies. Patty's too. LOTS of new fans.Back to the deck for the preshow ritual, this time for Rock Funk Party and it was a party! So glad to have the opportunity to see them. Lots of fun! Then the artist's jam and more hanging out until the wee hours.

Thursday was a day at sea. Joe did the pics that day. He started in the venue which was high and at the front. Needless to say it got to him after a few hours and he moved outside for fresh air. I can assure you he won't do it this way next year. lol I know there were schedule changes. Carmine sat in with Steve Costello, JST played again, and once again I saw Ryan. The Ded Nugents were a riot. They actually can play well. I can't believe I didn't recognize Roy W on keys!! I also want to say that Jim Moody is a very good drummer. Joe's Dad joined in on harp, but he wasn't happy. I think he had the wrong key, but it was all fun! Patty won the "make your own tee" contest.

Friday is a blur, but I did see Ryan again, JST again (Layla's drum soloes were off the charts!!), and as many others as I could. I opted out of trying for stage front viewing. I found stairs at the rear which lead to the observation deck. It was glorious. The sound was spot on and all the folks that jammed with Joe made it extra special. The last of the last was Katy Guillen and the Girls. They were great and I got to dance with Paul Lamb, the bass player for JST (be still my heart), which was the perfect ending for me.

What a great time. It was nice to make new friends, see old ones, and enjoy music of that caliber for 4 days. I'm planning on being aboard come next February. smile
