Re: What a Year to be a Boston Sports Fan.

I was just reading about some of Curt's outspoken moments on wilkepekia.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Curt_Schilling  I was laughing about how the camera use to catch him when Mitch Williams pitched (known as the "Wild Thing"...many feel responsible for losing the World Series in 93- in game#6)  Mitch married a girl from the next town and moved to Florida for a bit and resurfaced in the Phila. sports arena of radio/tv...hired by Comcast to cover the Phillies, baseball etc.  Many years have passed, but I felt sorry for Mitch...fans totally blamed him for the loss...I think he was even physically threatened.

JBrules-knew about the house up there...guess all these guys own lots of real estate and the school year can work around a baseball season better than a football season.  I just found out Ron Jaworski considers South Jersey his primary residence...he owns 3 golf courses and tons of stuff...better than giving it away to taxes.

Angela, the speculation is running rampant on Bay Area sports talk radio about Barry confessing next, but I doubt that he will if he's entertaining thoughts of DHing in the American league next season, probably for the Angels so he can work out of his home in Beverly Hills. You never know whats goin' through that guys mind on any given day. One things for sure, Schilling really ruffled his feathers.

JBRules, well the juries in, the Yankees are not invincible. So bring on the SAWKS!!!! This is gonna be an intense series to say the least, stats wise we've got the 2 best teams in baseball this season. May the best team win, but I think you know which way I'm leaning.

Bellicheck was just trying to get a leg up as EVERY OTHER coach in football does,  he just got caught.  and it doesnt really matter if they got caught, becuase they don't need it anyway,  were going undefeated this year, and we are winning a superbowl, They can't lose.  perfect season,  mark my words.

The New England Patriots are a fabulous football team. They are a great team without cheating!

It's wrong when anyone cheats, no matter what the format...videotaping, paying off a ref, hitting an ice skaters knees, taking steroids...it's just wrong!

Just a little sports trivia note, Tom Brady And Barry Bonds went to the same high school. Juniperro Serra High School in San Mateo, Ca.

Easy Conner, ya got to win all 3 sports in the same season first. Actually I think it happened in Baltimore the early 70s, I know the Orioles and Bullets won it the same year, just dont think the Colts did it or am I wrong?

I'm sure you didnt catch my post awhile back, I'm all over the Celtics bandwagon, K.G. and Ray Allen are 2 of my favs in the NBA. I tell everybody, Tom Brady is the closes thing to Montana in field presence. I know he's still heartbroken he wasnt a 49er, he grew up in our back yard. And heh, the Sox are fun to watch, even i felt good for them when they finally won it a few years back, even though I'm the biggest Yankee fan from Cali. who has never been to New York.

Have a great year, this may be something to tell the grandkids some day!

Re: What a Year to be a Boston Sports Fan.

Close Big "D", The Raiders and Warriors were Champs in '76, the A's threepeat was '72,'73,'74. How many 3peats does Bawston have??????????????? HMMMM I don't even need fingers to count those.

Re: What a Year to be a Boston Sports Fan.

How many threepeats, make that twopeats does the Cleveland Indians have?
You don't need any fingers for that count, Because its 0.

When you have alot of teams like JDawg of course they are going to win.

Sorry but that A's threepeat and the rest of the Oakland Teams are in the Rivercat's house.  I was there, all 3 World Series.

Stick to your Indians.

And that's funny that you would call Bellicheck out when you were the one to defend Barry Bonds.

Re: What a Year to be a Boston Sports Fan.

First I have never defended Bonds, I just don't get why he is the one taking all the flack for something half or more of the league was doing too. I was at all of those A's world series too and the parties that followed in Jack London Square into the wee hours. It was kinda sad but also convenient that you could walk up and get tix at face value for those Series games since they never sold out at least the ones we showed up for. I've been an Indians fan for 54 yrs. now and I could care less how many rings they have as it will be that much sweeter when I do witness it happen. Being in the process of beating cancer only enhances everything that comes my way as I'm in bonus time now. You'll need a bigger cloud to rain on my parade. Bay Area sports fans really don't know what hard core fans are, but you might notice when the say Indians, Yankees, or Red Sox come to Oakland and the crowd is about 50/50 with the visitors fans.

NFL players, the Tour deFrance, Boxing, Wrestling (It's all real you know), NBA players packin' heat every time they leave the house, thoughrobred horses, I think you catch my drift here.  Above it all Barry did something no other player to date has ever done and all the detractors can't do a DAMN thing about it. As John Heyman said at SI.com today, "I'll probably give him a vote on the first ballot into the Hall of Fame, but I won't like it. He was a Hall of Famer before all this controversey started." Oh by the way the home run record is now 757!!!!!!

Sounds like you didn't have a problem with Barry getting the homerun record.

Really, you don't care about how many rings Cleveland has?  You sure tried to use "the Rings argument" against Boston.  You had to use the Oakland A's reference to try to trump Boston fan with 3 rings in a row over 1 ring.  See if you used Cleveland it would be tied 1 to 1.

Just because you have alot of fans, it doesn't necessarily mean they are hardcore fans.  Alot of people like to jump on the bandwagon of successful teams.  But Boston Red Sox fans are very hardcore.  Just like Chicago Cubs fans.  All you have to do is look at the Oakland Raider Fans to know how much they love their team to know the Bay Area has hardcore fans.  ESPN knows, they featured The Raider Nation.
