Topic: A Joe Tribute Band in the UK

Was hesitant to post this ... I am not entirely sure how Tribute Bands "work" with regards to the original artist and their copyrighted material ... don't want to create an issue ... and I'm not entirely sure what I think about Tribute bands in general ... maybe I'm overthinking this.

That said  ... two audio only videos of covers were UTube posted today (2/14/15) ... and I must say I enjoyed them ... so in that spirit I am posting the links ... (naturally, the originals are amongst my favs ... so I was a bit biased.)

A tribute band ... yet another indication that Joe has "made" it.

"I was in Space for less than 2 weeks … and suddenly Jeaniene’s back … half the Band is off the gd wagon … we have comedians opening for us … and the nice kid that ran our website is now a kleptof’nmaniac.  Boy ... did you guys miss me!!"  Phil Valentine - Road Manager - Staton House Band

Re: A Joe Tribute Band in the UK

don't think there's a problem performing other peoples material after all Joe himself has used other peoples stuff, i think it's when you record and then make money from that recording then your talking royalties.

Re: A Joe Tribute Band in the UK

Road, thanks for posting, this is for sure flattering for Joe!

Don't mean to get into a whole critique, but pluses and minuses to these pieces.  IMO, the full-on orchestra effects (strings, piano) were cool and I thought were surprisingly compatible with Mountain Time especially.  But they were overdone, and went on too long with repeating all the same bars.  His voice was pretty good actually but of course it's not Joe.  Surprised that there appeared to be minimal guitar work to me, especially compared with Joe's version; the background orchestra input overtook everything.

But anyway, fun to see!

I need some Joe...NOW.

Thank u RCB! ..  another indication indeed

A couple lulls in John Henry

Mountain Time was pleasantly sending me away .. until the drummer's beat into the chorus snapped me out of it. I was like .. 'what the hell was that ..' lol

I really enjoyed their interpretation tho

Thanks for sharing Brother!

Cheers! cool
