Good idea Ron
Sandy i don't know the specifics but i do know J&R does do their best to reach out in many ways to younger fans.
i am not in the position to donate many tickets or sit in guitar center and be able to play a lick someone will want to hear more of but just generally any street team effort i do is aimed at whatever age group might listen.

I will try to get creative.

FWIW though i do pick and choose what things Joe is doing i 'promote' more or share more. I favor different things that Joe does compared with how i perceive his own personal likes as well as other fans. Outside of the rare music or Blues afficando young person, the more mainstream and rock stuff has better chances at getting attention IMHO. For instance i would feel most comfortable sharing more of the DSOB than say the Three Kings tour. not saying its better or what not but the Three Kings stuff is going to be a more acquired taste. those who may find Joe through DSOB would likely come to love all of it IMHO. Anyway its just My way but i appreciate the post and will work on the challenge in my own way. if i come up with any good ideas i will post them.

Hi Jane
You have done soooo much to promote Joe and this music you Rock.
Looking forward to meet you someday. Cheers Ron

Joe playing festivals (like he did Pinkpop) will get him in front of more and younger fans.

I like the idea of getting younger fans to Joe's shows, and it's definitely worthwhile, but Joe is just one artist. My local small venue is Chan's http://www.chanseggrollsandjazz.com, and they have 4-10 shows per month, with a large percentage blues shows. I take my son there a lot, and few times with friends, and also mentioned it to a neighbor with a slightly older son. A couple of weeks ago I went when the neighbor's 14yo son and another friend played the open mic jam night. It was a slow night due to the weather, so they got lots of stage time, and active hints and other knowledge from the house band. And a guy that plays a jam night in Danielson CT, Brandt Taylor, who was killer.

So while it's great to create a new Bonafan at one of Joe's shows, it's also great to create new blues fans with the great variety of talent touring today. And you can do it more often. Great shows I've seen at Chan's include Matt Schofield, Jon Butcher, Albert Cummings, Ana Popovic, and several more lesser known bands. This also keeps tiny venues for live music viable. I've seen amazing shows played to a half empty room with 50 people in it. (winter doesn't help :-)

Hi Tim
You are absolutly correct any artist that actually creates good music. That's awesome love what your doing. Always a pleasure to link up with you.
Cheers Ron

2 young fans already.

How cool is that! Try to get them to meet him. I have given meet and greets to young guys and watching the look on their face when they meet Joe is priceless.

My kids (well 36 +29) their friends all get a good dose of Joe and have attended concerts, bought cd's etc, My students at college 16-21 yrs all get an introduction also. Have done this all along. Will keep trying and you never know. big_smile

Wow that is cool, do any of your students play guitar?

I know two or three do but haven't heard them play. You just have to get past the pop and the rap and get them to listen. Many are amazed how cleanly Joe does his faster runs compared to his more modern counterparts. This idea should be encouraged by all, not just the older element though. big_smile

Yeah rap and all that processed stuff is not music  to me unfortunately that is what many kids listin too. Awesome yes I agree all should spread the word but it is up to us to push the younger ones along and have them start turning their friends on.
Thanks for sharing

This topic has got me thinking about my first exposure to live blues shows. Back in the 70's  I had a friend who was given a James Cotton album, 100% Cotton, and we nearly wore it out. Then I found out he was playing at a small club near me. I remember being blown away by the music, this was when Matt Guitar Murphy was in his band, and they were tight. The crowd was 95% college age, totally digging the blues. I saw John Mayall at the same small club, that was an awesome show. The 70's were a great time for the blues. In the early 90's I saw Bluestime (J Geils, Magic Dick) in a small club during a blizzard. There were only about ten to fifteen people there, but they played like the place was packed, what a great show. Times have changed, but my love of the blues is as strong as ever.

Cool story I agree the 70's was a magical time in music. I look back and realize how lucky I was to be in a Rock band during that time. Boy the stories I could tell....,

Thanks for the reply Ron,

The big kids wouldn't mind meeting him too!

I'm sure they would be grinning for days afterwards, my son has recently taken up the drums and meeting Tal would also make his day....he has watched a few of Tals' gopro drum cam videos and is always open mouthed at the speed he plays sometimes.

Thanks again

Lee.
