Topic: Please Suggest a Multi Delay Pedal

So it has come to a point where I need at least 2, but would prefer to have 3 or more accessible delay sounds in one pedal. I am currently borrowing a friend's Line 6 DL4. It's fine, it does the job, it gets me 3 preset delay sounds. I was wondering, and I have already looked extensively, if anyone knows of any other options that will fit the following:

1) maybe a bit smaller in size (not a must but would be nice)

2) no looping function, won't need it, will never use it

3) no tap tempo needed, won't need it, will never use it

4) good sound

5) easy to go between presets (TC Nova Delay is a pain in the arse, and so is the Line 6 M5 so those are not going to work)

-Does this beast exist?

Re: Please Suggest a Multi Delay Pedal

The Strymon Timeline has some of the features you don't think you'll need, but it has a huge number of delay sounds in it. Highly recommended.

Re: Please Suggest a Multi Delay Pedal

I think I am going to go the route of th TC Alter Ego x4. I have the regular Alter Ego and love it.

Re: Please Suggest a Multi Delay Pedal

Like the Alter Ego as well. Was going to suggest the x 4.

Re: Please Suggest a Multi Delay Pedal

tc electronic flashback x4. Includes dynamic delay and ping pong if you every decide to do a stereo rig.

Re: Please Suggest a Multi Delay Pedal

I have a TC Alter Ego x4. Only qualm with it is that it doesnt have a modulation control, however there are so many versatile vintage delay sounds that you can dial in and set lots of good tones. I'm sure the flashback x4 is great also, I've always been impressed by TC's mod/delay/reverb effects.

Re: Please Suggest a Multi Delay Pedal

Another vote for the Alter Ego X4.  and the current price ($179) can't be beat!  I think mine was $279 when they first came out.  AND...  if you need any UN-modulated delays, just load them them into one of the 4 programmable toneprint slots.  I never used the looper either- but just as a 3-preset delay pedal, it can't be beat, especially for the price.

Re: Please Suggest a Multi Delay Pedal

Yeah I saw that. The price is great. I use the the DMM setting and the amount of modulation is just right for me. I can always make my own toneprint also, which is nice. I keep a chorus pedal on the board so I am not super worried about modulation. Thanks dudes.

Re: Please Suggest a Multi Delay Pedal

You should really try the Free the Tone Flight Time. I'm in awe of the thing.

I had a Timeline and hated the suck and tonal loss from it. It's great for settings and patches but sounds pretty sterile. The Flight Time sounds organic and HUGE.

And has loads of presets.

"Who wants an orange whip? Orange whip? Orange whip? Three orange whips...."

JB LP Goldtop No. 290- Aged...rather like me.

Catalinbread ehorec?

Re: Please Suggest a Multi Delay Pedal

Well, GC had one of of those "stupid deals of the day" and I pulled the trigger on an Alter Ego x4 from Tc Electronic. At 169 bucks, it sounds fantastic and it is a lot of bang for the buck. The free the tone stuff is nice but at 350-400 bucks, it is way more than I would spend on any single pedal. Thanks for the help, lads.

yeah the timing was right, with the huge price drop it was easy to pull the trigger. Seems like they really went heavily after modulated delays on this unit, which is cool. I like that I can make my own presents and reduce the modulation for a more basic delay sound. the sound quality is killer too.
