To be honest it looks like this list was written 5 years ago (although evidently it wasn't).

Ha I hear ya'. I never wanted to like someone as much as I tried opening my mind to Jack White. Most of his stuff I just don't get! I have 2 sons in their 20's, we share the love of music, so that's why I think I really tried with Jack White.
Did anyone see Jack White on Jimmy Fallon last night?
The guy is continually reinventing himself, such an eccentric artist. Definitely has talent and some good songs. I saw him as a warm-up for Bob Dylan when he did his Raconteurs stint, which was good. The 7th Nation Army Jack White era was cool as well.
CONGRATS TO OUR MAIN MAN JOE B.!!! You are awesome!!
Jack White at #3? I haven't heard much of anything from him that I like, although I admit that hasn't been a lot. What I have heard just sounded eclectic and sloppy. I don't see him on this list at all.

Good point.
Very. Embarassed I didn't think of him.
+1, also better than Harper. ridiculously subjective but they did include Eric Gales, one of my top 5 along with Joe, and Matt, and Robben Ford. Since when is Jonny Lang a great guitarist, has he ever been? Lists are meant to be argued, carry on.
Matt Schofield could easily replace half the guys on this list especially Mayer, Lang, & White.
Matt Kills It!!!

what Jack White does is engage young(er) people with guitar based music, and I think that the fact that he refuses to stay in a box is a good thing, not a bad thing. He often strips his music back to (at times) the bare bones, - which perhaps is not to everyones taste, but at least he is not jumping on the bandwagon of popularity. - Seven Nation Army is one of the simplest songs but as such it has given a platform to many kids to pick up a guitar and perform, - and for that alone the man deserves a medal and should be applauded by all of us who want to see a future for the guitar. Lecture over ;-)
