Oh I remember. Been a Pats fan all my life.

I think Bledsoe was too much trying to do the same thing that Dan Marino did, but the Pats had a suspect O-line for a while that didn't suit him. For as much as he gets made fun of for being slow, Brady has always been more mobile and athletic than Bledsoe.

And Bradys post season numbers are about as good as it gets, where Bledsoe seemed to choke.

Brady's definitely one of the "greats", but he came outta Michigan..........

Re: The NFL - National Football League

HA, isn't that the truth about payback. Really bad call the week before to Dallas's advantage.

The best part of football this year for me was Thanksgiving and the Eagles beating Dallas, then it was pretty much a nose dive for the Eagles. hmm

In an older post Murfdog had asked how Dallas was coined America's Team - I heard on talk radio that the owner of NFL Films coined the phrase and others picked up on it.

Personally, I think the Packers should hold the title for America's Team - home to the first Vince Lombardi Trophy!

And if Stu is still out there, I feel your pain Stu. It was a great game, it looked like a simple ending for your Seahawks to win. The Patriots beat the Eagles by 3 in the Super Bowl, many feel there was the same cheating going on that they were fined for with the Jets.

Its kind of funny looking back at how the Patriots started the season-Brady had a few rough games and people were talking like he was all washed up! big_smile

Not watching, listening, or reading about ANY game ALL YEAR!  That included college ball.  Haven't done that ever since I was a quite young lad!  And i got to tell ya, I feel great not dealing with all the well beyond incipient BS of what the current verses former games and players and expectations have become.

You guys can hopefully continue to enjoy, but for me, it's "pro" wresling and roller derby from now on........

Re: The NFL - National Football League

Well, after dancing around threatening the city with the need for a new stadium or the Chargers would leave (at the taxpayers' expense of course) The Mayor formed a task force of citizens to come up with solutions. The Chargers dissed the appointees, suggesting they would have the city's interest at heart and demanded some not be on it at all whose names had been bandied about. He even scheduled a face to face yesterday with owner Spanos to cut through the lawyers and such that had delivered a list of demands found insulting, and find out what the Chargers really wanted. Especially since any citizen money would need a 2/3 vote to pass which has a chance between nil and zero of success. Our crumbling infrastructure needs the $ far more than some billionaire whose been screwing us for decades.

Now it comes out. Chargers and Raiders had been working together behind the scenes all along and want to break ground on a joint facility in Carson that's privately financed after pleading poverty for so long in an attempt to hold up the locals for the price. So much for the fans....

WHAT??? The LA RaiderwhackingChargicating whosits? Oakland and San Diego have been californicated! What about that deal to build a facility on the old Santa Anita horsetrack by the owner of the Rams? Where does that fit?

The fans of these teams hate each other. Home vs Home should be  a dandy brawl... if any of them show up. As for me? They priced me out of the game long ago so my interest is merely as a rooter for the home team amid a long string of almosts and near misses while squandering talent. I'd rather spend my entertainment funds on music.I'm sure the long-suffering Raiders fans feel equally betrayed.

Blah, blah, blah! So the City of Carson throws a press conference to announce THEIR plans, but nobody from the Raiders or Chargers showed up or sent out a statement regarding ANYTHING. I'll believe it when I see it. My feeling is this could possibly be another Irwindale plot.

I like the RaiderwhackingChargicating.  Will that be the new name of our Team Rick?
Try and stick that on a Uniform, lol.

This was total news to me.   I was thinking the Rams where gonna be the front runners, but maybe not so yet.

Rick, I actually really hope you can keep your team in San Diego for all the fans there.  I also hope we can keep our team in Oakland but I know this has been an on-going issue for both our Teams.
Both the cities are struggling trying to keep the teams and I wish Oakland had the money for a new Stadium.  I don't want to see my team leave, but I know that is a strong possibility.  And just after we got a new coach, a local boy.

I have to say I was shocked to hear this as I didn't even think Raider fans are allowed in San Diego.
I thought you guys had put up a Brinks Security Fortress to keep us out.
Now we may be playing in the same Stadium?  If the stadium issue wasn't so bad, I would never believe it, but now....................... ?

Re: The NFL - National Football League

Well, now that the dust has settled, we are in a wait and see mode. Bluff by the teams? Everyone slavers at the LA market but no owner wants to go all in at the moment. Chargers want to retain the naming rights if a new stadium is built. That is near a billion alone. San Diego wants a multi-use facility, possible equity and a guarantee citizen money will be recouped is one proposal. Where is a big question. Chargers want a downtown facility but that will be near impossible with transport and parking a real issue. The football hating majority would keep it in lawsuits for environmental issues for decades which, at the very least, would drive up the cost. The Q has location and rail already and would be a natural to rebuild, but the city owns the land and I think the Chargers want to own the facility. Their lease runs out this year.

Very sad news, Kenny "The Snake" Stabler passed away yesterday, part of my childhood was watching my Raiders play on Sundays.....whatta ya say a little "Sweet Home Alabama" by the band

Re: The NFL - National Football League

It is really sad, I didn't even know he had cancer, no reports here in Alabama that I remember. He was a huge personality here, mostly good memories but a few bad incidents which a lot of sports guys have anyway. He will be remembered fondly by all UA fans as "quite the character".

Very sad news.  I was a huge fan of his growing up as well.  One of my favorite Christmas gifts ever was a Stabler jersey back in 1978.

I didn't know that he was battling colon cancer so his passing came a quite a shock.  He definitely lived life to its fullest.  And it's a travesty that he is not in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Re: The NFL - National Football League

God I loved the Raiders back in the 60's and 70's and Kenny Stabler became my favorite through those glory years. Sadly Al Davis made it impossible to enjoy those guys with the way he manipulated and screwed his players and anybody else who got between him and his twisted old school ideals. RIP Snake, there will never be another one like you! I love John Madden's statement regarding Kenny, "If I had one drive to win a game and I had one quarterback to do it, it would be Kenny Stabler."

One of the great ones. My BIL has a framed signed game shirt of KS's in his office. RIP.
As the Raiders, Chargers and Rams all eye LA, SoCal sports is like looney tunes. Any bets on what the outcomes are?

I scored tix this week to the Packers/Bears game on Thanksgiving night when Brett Favre's jersey will be retired! Earlier in the day I had asked my sister how the heck we were gonna manage getting tix for that game and then - POOF - it happened that night. Should be a fun time. This is ALMOST as good as getting front row seats for Joe!

I'm rooting for those Chiefs too (ahead by 13 as I type smile ), the better half is a Vikes fan. That game should be a frozen tundra affair. A favorite by a fair margin,  but can the Seahawks prevail when frozen?
