Topic: Question for Epiphone JB owners......
I already have an Epi 60s tribute LP (deepset neck, Gib classic 57s, etc). Would there really be any need to pick up the JB model?

Not an owner but I might can help. I'm assuming your referring to the newer Pelham blue model.
The JB has a d profile 1959 neck so it's going to feel more beefy than 60's neck. The JB also has burstbucker 2 in the neck and burstbucker 3 in the bridge. I've never A/Bed the two so I can't give you the difference.
The discontinued goldtop model appears to have the same specs.
When I look at buying another guitar, I always ask my self three thing.
Does it feel a hole in my collection/ have a different sound or feel?
Can I Afford it?
Can I hide it from the wife Untill it's safe to tell her about it?
Your mileage may vary on those questions. Personally If I get a bonamassa signature guitar in the future, I always like to get this that were used by the artist. I don't really like signature stuff if it hasn't been used by the artist for a period of time. I Don't recall seeing Joe really use the Pelham blue live but im more recent to Joes scene so he may have at some point. I know the goldtop got used fairly often.

I am not a fan of chunky necks. And I'd rather have a Gibson LP than an Epi LP. BUT- that Pelham blue, with it's brown/pink-lined case is so gorgeous, I'm resisting GAS to buy one. lol

Not a guitar player but regarding Joe playing the Epi Pelham Blue. He did play it at two shows I saw last spring. Rupp Arena and Ryman Auditorium. Sound real nice. Of course that was the time they released it for sale to everyone.

A friend of mine bought one not too long ago. He brought it up to our gig because he really wanted to hear it in a live band, full volume setting. Both myself, and our other guitar player played it. It really stood tall. REALLY nice guitar for the money. For reference, I usually take 4 or 5 Historic L.P.'s to gig with...through a custom built Friedman BE amp. Not bragging, just giving you an idea of my comparison for saying it's a great guitar.
As for your other point....the neck will be considerably more chunky than what your used to. Doesn't bother me, but, weight, neck profile, and those things have never concerned me much.

actually I don't think Joe has ever (but maybe never) played an Epiphone at one of his concerts.
he does have a couple of different blue Les Paul's he plays but they are the Gibson variety.

I know the BonaByrd 2 is sea foam green and he played it at the last couple of shows I was at. He did play a guitar at those two shows that was Pelham blue. They had one of the Blue Epiphones for sale at the souvenir stand and it looked just like the one on display.

I was lucky enough to snag one of the original run of Goldtops back in 2010, and it is a fine instrument. I'm not enough of a player to know how it would compare to a Gibson, but it definitely stands out compared to other Epiphones I have experienced...
You should try the neck before you buy, though...I love beefy necks, but YMMV, of course...

In my very limited experience with signature series Epiphones I have found the feel and sound to be on par with a lower end gibson if not better. The epiphone slash Rosso Corso I have feels chambered and but is built like a rock. You'll need a good setup though. The pickups in all the signature line seem to always be gibson pickups not the cheap epiphone made pickups (in my case slash seymour Duncan alnico 2 pro). I would like to grab a Joe Perry Boneyard LP someday.
Going back to if Joe actually played a Pelham Blue les Paul, I doubt he ever played with an epiphone. I'm not sure if Gibson made a run for him, but I would be very surprised but impressed if he played the epiphone on stage.

Well that's awesome if he did. That's the first picture I've seen of it in action. I figured he may have used a a gibson version of the guitar.

More like played one to promote the model in Gibson's hometown. I'm not saying Joe doesn't believe in the product, but c'mon . . . 8 Bursts plus all the "lesser" vintage hardware . . .

I could see that as well. My thing is, I can take the Epiphone Gold top and I would take any of his other 59 burst in Epiphone form. I'm not so picky that I won't buy it if it isn't a gibson. I just want the guitar to match the look of the more expensive Gibson. I like for signature guitars to resemble ones that are used as I said, but preferably used more frequently. With that said I may still end up getting the Pelham blue. It's not a bad price for a limited run guitar with 200 dollars worth of pickups in it and a beautiful case.

That's really the bottom line, isn't it? Value for the money? I think you'll be happy with the Pelham blue version if you decide to get one...

Thanks for all the input, guys. Today, I finally found an Epi JB on the wall and gave it a test drive. Neck didn't really feel that big to me personally. Was very impressed with it. Played it thru the Marshall Slash 5 watt amp. I didn't buy it at that point cause I'm not really in love with the color that much. But I think I'm gonna pull the trigger on it.
