Topic: Good evening from Ireland

Hi there, not often I post on forums but after discovering Joes music only 2/3 months ago,I felt compelled to sign up here, and join in.Cant quite believe I'd never managed to hear Joe before now.A friend gave me the Royal Albert Hall DVD and I was hooked.I like a broad range of music and I suppose "guitar heroes" would be Eric Johnston and Joe Satriani. Its great hearing some of their influences in JBs playing.I play guitar as well although I've always been a strat man (hangs head in shame!) but trying very hard to resist a JB signature model of some sort. Its going to happen I fear! Anyway looking forward to the chat.R

Re: Good evening from Ireland

Welcome to the forum Ronin. We all got here that way after finding Joe for the first time. You have a huge back catalog to enjoy. Many phases in his musical progress and quite a few excursions into stuff other than the regular too.  No need to hang your head about being a stratguy, Joe picks up and plays those too. He's come full circle now and has gone full retro-vintage in his stage axe usage as well as amps. Enjoy the ride. You will find a wealth of gear info in the sticky section on the gear threads. Many chase that tone but it's all in his hands, which is true of all the guitar heros.

Re: Good evening from Ireland

Welcome Ronin, glad to have you join us. Once again a new member tells us how they got hooked by watching the Royal Albert Hall show! That DVD has certainly gained Joe a lot of fans, including me. There is no need to hang your head about being a strat guy, and the certainly is no reason to resist a JB Signature Guitar. I bought a Gibson JB Les Paul early last year and I'm glad I did. Now I'm starting to think about getting another!

Enjoy the topics and great people here.

BTW, I've got some Irish blood, my mothers mother was from Bessbrook.

Cheers,
Rusty

Re: Good evening from Ireland

Thank you Rick,oh I'm old and wise enough at 46 to know its the "Indian that fires the Bow". But JB has given me a great excuse to get a Les Paul! Looking forward to discovering all of Joes music as he seems to be as prolific as any musician out there in terms of album numbers

Re: Good evening from Ireland

Hey Rusty,Bessbrook is about 45 miles away, not exactly downtown Manhattan!,but I've been there! Thanks for the welcome and yes I think I'll be joining you with a JB signature of some sort, although they don't seem that easy to get hold of here. Its interesting you say that about the Albert Hall,I'm not usually a huge fan of live recordings but the sound, production, vocals on that seem huge and really amazing.

Re: Good evening from Ireland

Sorry,I meant to add that remarkably in this day and age JB seems such a regular guy in all the interviews/clips I've seen which is really refreshing from a guy in his position. And by the way Rusty, over here we all know everyone,so I probably know some distant relative of yours.(I'm serious by the way). What was you mothers mothers surname? ( no worries if you don't want to publish that)

Re: Good evening from Ireland

Welcome aboard Ronin.  I'll also take this moment to plug my trip to Ireland last August with my son.  We did the following loop: Dublin, Cashel, Waterford, Cork, Killarney, Cliffs of Moher,  Doolin, Cong, Ballycroy, Westport, Kilbeggan, Dublin.  It was a really great experience.

Add: My Mother's side of the family (Conner) is from Co. Mayo. She visited her great grandmother's village back in 2011 and neighbors pointed out where her house once stood.  Amazing people there remember their local history and families so well.

He is indeed a "regular guy" and, before the crush forced him to be less available to the fans on tour, is as nice a guy as you could want to meet. He is a total guitar geek and if you ever get the chance, will converse at length on that madness. Enjoy!

The name is McComb. My fathers side of the family is from England, though they came over in the 1700's I'd like to travel to the UK some day, maybe when I retire....

Hi welcome to the group...remember it's not the guitar itself it's the fingers that do the magic

And so castles made of sand melts into the sea, eventually.........
