Topic: Radio City

I cant help but wonder just how stoked Joe must be right now . A couple hours away from show time . Radio City New York , don't look for more Joe . But you will and we the fans will love that . I have been to my share of shows and the whole gang just keeps changing and getting better . I will be in Rockford Il and Minneapolis for two shows in April . The horns , if they are still around will be a first for me . I loved them on his Tour DE Force release.  The band is professional from top to bottom . The crew , the musicians all professional . Its not a coincidence that the shows go off 99% flawless . That comes from being professional . This ,  my fellow fans , is what Webster should define under  " professional touring band " .

Re: Radio City

Well just out of Radio City and another stellar show. And the venue makes it even better. No surprise guests as some thought there might be just the band closing out their time together. Looking forward to tomorrow night. Will try and get a setlist up later unless someone beats me to it.

Re: Radio City

Freakin' awesome show tonight!!! Seats were in the first balcony way in the back so camera was zoomed out all the way. Stage was like a football field away. Tricky but I did my best. Loved all the new songs and Reese is one of the best things to happen to this band. Loved him and also loved having the horns. Wow!

To settle all the questions, Joe told us "One Less Cross To Bear" is a song he just wrote when he was in Nashville just the other week. Fantastic funky tune! So hot off the presses, here it is:

Love the new tune! Thanks, Natasha!

I'm curious about the "box" around the mic stand, though. If you're sitting in the wrong spot is your view of the guitar and Joe's hands being blocked?

LIVE MUSIC IS BEST

Barbie, if you were sitting in the front center, your view of Joe's hands and guitar would probably be blocked by the mic stand. fortunately when Joe solos he is away from the stand.

Buzzy, that was a cool little King Kong Joe had gotten at the Empire State building. Love Joe's sense of humor and it is so appropriate for that mic stand smile

Re: Radio City

I thought this was an interesting bit of guitar geek info. When Joe holds that one note out to infinity on "Double Trouble", he has found that the '60 bursts can do this, whereas the '59 bursts can't be counted on to do it. So now he is using "The Runt" on this song.

The note happens around 3:34 http://youtu.be/Baoz--ODu-U

The mic stand looked like it was styled after a skyscraper, so I'm guessing that's King Kong.

I clicked on One Less Cross first ... and ... my hand on a Bible ... when Natasha zoomed in ... I thought for the first few seconds ... it was Mr. M up there (and you made the trip to NYC). No lie. big_smile

Re: Radio City

Another great show.  Sad to see the acoustic band go but I'm looking forward to the next phase of Joe's career.  Very nice to see Joe wish his mom a Happy Birthday and give her flowers on the stage of such an historic venue.  The lights were a bit much at times, like trying to watch a show with a giant flashlight shining in your face.  The new material sounded fantastic, the band is obviously comfortable with it and Joe, as usual, shakes up the arrangements and keeps you guessing.

Curious that he played "I Gave Up Everything" twice.  Possibly for the taping?  No complaints here.  Great tune.  Looking forward to seeing the broadcast and hopefully buying the Blu-ray.

What a weekend!  Thanks, Joe!
