Topic: Kids with Taste :)

Well my buddy Angela was telling me today at work that her 5 yr old, Cody, now requests to hear "Dirt In My Pocket" every time they get in the car.  And she will say, "Now who sings that," and he'll say" Joe, but I can't remember how to say his last name.  He's the one I have the autographed picture hanging in my room, right?"  Joe's talent reaches and touches all ages.

"I'm not nice to any guitar!"      lol

That is so awesome!! Another Nico! It is so beautiful when I hear about kids being touched by the music of Joe.

Re: Kids with Taste :)

Too cute! Every time I'm in the car with my son he says play anything except that Joe Bonamassa. But then he's 19 and thinks he knows everything.

I'm just saying.

Re: Kids with Taste :)

then he doesn't know anything ;-) i'm 18 and when i'm in the car, no matter who is driving.. Joe is on !! tongue big_smile

Re: Kids with Taste :)

Yeah, it just kills me. And he likes Hendrix and Zepplin. Go figure. I think he's just sick of hearing it so much. Of course I give him a smack upside the head (lightly!) just to let him know Mom is not amused.

I'm just saying.

Re: Kids with Taste :)

I wish my kids would listen, but its the whole hip hop or teen idol stuff.maybe when they get a little older

I've been a fan of Joe since I was in 8th grade..... I'm 19 now. It's cool to say I grew up listening to the music of Joe Bonamassa. wink

Re: Kids with Taste :)

When I was pregnant with my son, he was with me through each of my 60 private lessons I taught at the time plus I played alot myself.  After he was born his favorite was Robert Johnson.  Now he's five and Joe is his favorite.  I know that may change, but I'm lovin' it now.  To keep my kids amused in the car, I actually put on songs and if they can tell me who it is by they get a quarter.  If they can name the song too, that's bonus and they get a dollar.

Re: Kids with Taste :)

I'm lucky with my kids, they've been brought up with the likes of Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Cream, Free, Deep Purple and others too numerous to mention here and while they've both developed their own tastes, my 18 yr old like bands such as Mettalica, Audioslave, Sip knot and such he was with me to see Stan Webb's Chicken Shack recently and Last week to see Walter Trout so I'm happy he's into the blues as well. My youngest is a big Queen fan but as they have an amazing guitarist in Brian May it's no Surprise that he likes Walter Trout and Joe Bonamassa and he wants to come and see Joe in Cardiff next Feb. It's really nice to think my boys understand the music I like while keeping their own individuality, I mean.... I hated the stuff my dad listened to...so I was influenced by older cousins and guys at school but I'm happy to say I discovered the british blues connection on my own listening to John Mayall and later Free and Rory Gallagher. big_smile

Hanging on in quiet desperation is the english way, the time is over, the dream is gone, thought I'd something more to say.

Re: Kids with Taste :)

Hehe, its great to hear that other younger people are getting into the blues music. I'm 16 myself and i don't know how people in my school listen to what they listen to. I have gotten a few people onto Bonamassa and the likes but i can't find anyone who enjoys the blues as much as i do. It's a shame and can make onversation a trifle difficult when talking about music as the most common reply is "who's that?". But still, I couldn't live without it.

That is VERY cool, Bill. And Patty I was smiling as I read what you wrote, how cute!  I'm still fairly new to Joe so my kids aren't too familiar with him...YET!!! wink

Re: Kids with Taste :)

Now that's what I call cool. I think more kids should listen to Joe's music.

Re: Kids with Taste :)

I was lucky enough to have an older brother that was at Woodstock. So when I was in eighth grade (1969) I was listening to Hendrix, Dave Mason & The Beatles.

You'll have to thank your bro for having directed you to the non-wimpy vibes!! smile. I've got an elder sis who was into Elvis and she sure initiated me to the good vibes....thanx Grace!

Re: Kids with Taste :)

I have to admit that I've always surrounded myself with good music even though my parents listened mainly to an easy listening station that I had no interest in other than the occassional Fleetwood Mac they would play.  I got into Hendrix, SRV and Clapton when I was 12 due to the guitar magazines I subscribed to and worked my way backward to it's blues roots.  I also remember belonging to a cassette club called "Sounds of the 70s", I  loved those!
