Topic: Meet & Greet

Hey All, are the m&g at the same time for every show? We bought our tickets for Charleston WV through PBS and have the m&g, but no one at the venue seems to know when the m&g is supposed to happen. Any ideas? Thanks!!

Re: Meet & Greet

It is usually straight after the sound check.  The two M&Gs I went to, the show was at 8pm, but the soundcheck was at 3pm and Joe met us around 4.

It probably will depend on the venue, so I'd suggest asking them when the sound check is, and where your should be to meet Joe, i.e. in front foyer, green room, side stage area, etc.

Re: Meet & Greet

Hi blues!  The M&Gs used to be at 4:30, but for this year's tour with the double band they had to move it to 5:30 because of the extended sound check.  Do not know what it will be for 2015, suspect it will still mostly depend on the band configuration.

Re: Meet & Greet

M&G times vary by venue, but it seems like they are mostly between 4:30 and 5:30. I was at the meet and greet last week at the springfield show, we were let into the lobby a few minutes after 5. Tamara at J&R should be able to help you with the time for your venue.

Joe signed my LP last week. He will sign anything except skin and medical devices (prosthetic limbs, etc)

Re: Meet & Greet

Just decide ahead of time if you want him to sign the body (which is more visible), or someplace that will survive playing, such as the headstock.

You don't need to bring a paint-pen or anything either, even if your guitar's back is black. They ask you not to bring those as they can leak, and he had a silver sharpie for that.

I had him sign the back of the headstock on my Pelham Blue Epi Les Paul, and the case as well. Note that you're allowed to have him sign two things, plus any number of photos you buy from them (which benefit his nonprofit Keeping The Blues Alive).

Re: Meet & Greet

he won't sign a historic guitar.

So if you happen to have a 59 LP laying around (like Joe hasn't bought them all yet)
Bring it,, he'd love to play and see it but he won't sign it.

you're safe with any non-historic guitar

Haha - yeah, I remember when I took my JBLP along for Joe to sign... I thought I would be super smart and bought a silver and gold paint pen and had them ready.... only to find out that Joe had his own all ready to go.  I should have known that a guy who has signed > 1000 guitars would know what works and won't work.  I was told the pens I brought could leak and smear.  So I smartly let Joe do it his way!

He did ask where I would have liked it signed, and I said my preference was behind the headstock.  Not only did Joe sign it there, he added a cheeky tagline as well (see my sig)... smile
