Topic: AC/DC New album 'Rock or Burst' out Dec. 2nd

Can't believe this hasn't been posted yet!

From the official website:

'‘Rock or Bust,’ the highly anticipated new studio album from AC/DC, will be released December 2, 2014. Featuring 11 new tracks and recorded in Spring 2014 at Warehouse Studio in Vancouver, BC, 'Rock or Bust' finds AC/DC once again working with producer Brendan O’Brien and mixer Mike Fraser.

“Rock or Bust” is the first AC/DC album in the band’s 41 year history without founding member Malcolm Young on the recordings. Earlier this year AC/DC released a statement explaining that due to illness, Malcolm would be taking a break from the band. Unfortunately, due to the nature of Malcolm’s condition, he will not be returning to the band. AC/DC will undertake a world tour in support of ‘Rock or Bust’ in 2015. Stevie Young, nephew of founding members Angus and Malcolm Young, plays rhythm guitar on 'Rock or Bust' and will accompany the band on tour.

Starting September 27, Turner Sports will provide fans a sneak peek of the new track ‘Play Ball’ as part of the 2014 Major League Baseball Postseason campaign. Check back here for more.'

Very hard to believe that they are continuing without Malcolm, The Riff Maker.

If we are to believe a recent report from Down Under (and at this point why wouldn't we) he has dementia and is in a full time health care facility......SOOOO FRICKIN' SAD, way too young.

I guess they mean it when they say......ROCK OR BUST!!!! Play Ball!

If the Phil Rudd story is true ... another sad set back for what could be a final tour.

JBLP#251 (unaged) ... thank you Ron.

Re: AC/DC New album 'Rock or Burst' out Dec. 2nd

Charges dropped BUT there is something up with Mr. Rudd. He looked like absolute crap in the court room video.

Pretty sure he's out of the band (again) since he wasn't at the video shoot for the 2 singles AND wasn't in the bands promo picture for the new album that was sent out a few weeks ago.

Strange.

Yes.....and diggin' it!!!  PURE AC/DC toe tappin' goodness.

Hard to believe no Malcolm but Stevie Young doesn't miss a beat. Brian Johnson sounds incredible at his age (67).

You are right on and got a chance to listen to it again and I think it may be there best in a while.I would put it much higher than Black Ice.

A simple plan yes.But not always means they will write a good somg as they have their share of duds to go with the great ones.Simple rock but not always an easy thing to make as an excellent rock song!

Re: AC/DC New album 'Rock or Burst' out Dec. 2nd

Purchased Rock or Bust for my Birthday coincidence on release date, good pressie cool

As a AC/DC afficiando of 38 years i wasnt expecting big things from the guys as in Malcolms ill health and omit from the recording studio, he is without doubt The Finest Rhythm Guitar player ever, also its been awhile since Black Ice 2008 and they aint gonna Rock like 20 year olds tearing it up like Let There Be Rock & Back in Black albums ..... No Siree.

So with an open mind to age and old Dinosaur Rock kicking in i wasnt expecting Crushing Hard Rock Boogie Anthems A la Whole Lotta Rosie, Let There Be Rock, Back in Black, Hells Bells, For Those About to Rock and 50 more classico songs

One thing i noticed from the first spin was the shortness of the first 6 songs all around the 3 minute mark even a few under, sort of standard chunky AC/DC with signs of ageing towards a Rolling Stones feel, plodding pace and sort of 6 out of 10's ok but nothing jumping out at you, best song in first 6 tracks was Title Track Rock Or Bust punchy little song with slabs of Riffery,
So plodding along with the acceptance of they've released an OK album which will have tons of airplay and appeal to the masses just cos of the name of the band, in this day and age that aint enough.

Then Song 8  OMFG  It was like a AC/DC Lightning Bolt with Angus aged 21 Riffing Ferociously with that Trademark AC/DC sound The Best Sound in Rock, Like no other Rock Band can do, Belting along with a Foot tapper and head nodder so catchy, this is why they are the best at what they do and still have it, where did that riff come from, like Holy Sh!t   "Baptism By Fire"  is Just Killer
repeat repeat repeat

Then Track 9 10 & 11  The Last 4 songs are off The Hook
"Baptism By Fire" "Rock The House" "Sweet Candy" and "Emission Control" has a RCFP feel to it, Sure Joe would like that one   , Strange they left the best songs til the end, because for me , it just plodded before that, Mind you they are all in their 60's except Angus

as a whole album its ok but in AC/DC standards i'd give it a 8 only cos the last 4 songs save it from being a 6

Re: AC/DC New album 'Rock or Burst' out Dec. 2nd

Another couple of thoughts with regards to "Rock Or Bust". Unbelieveable that here we are in 2014 with a new AC/DC album.

Production & Mix is out of this world. Brenden O'Brien did a great job...better than "Black Ice" which sounded to trebly, in my opinion. The backing vocals / gang vocals are the best since the Mutt triliogy. The guitars sound HUGE and there are a bunch of little guitar fills that just add to the sweetness. And whats there to say about Stevie, he did uncle Mal justice.

Now....Brian Johnson, 67, REALLY? Spin "Rock The House" at top volume and tell me that's not insane. Album is short yes,  songs are quick hitters with no fluff, no big deal.

I do have 1 complaint though, and its my problem....I have a sound system thats pretty loud, but not loud enough. THIS SUCKER NEEDS TO BE LISTENED TO AT HIGH VOLUME!!!....ROCK THE HOUSE.

And dont let Michael fool you. "Rock The Blues Away", "Hard Times", "Dogs Of War" and "Miss Adventure"  while not "Riff Raff" or "Given The Dog A Bone", are killer in their own right.

Oh....and ANGUS... That's all I gots to say 'bout that.

!!!AC/DC ROCKS!!!

Re: AC/DC New album 'Rock or Burst' out Dec. 2nd

+1........yeah, I have no problem with songs under 3 minutes when they sound like Rock the House. They claim that they didn't spend a whole lot of time in the studio on this thing, but damn that was quality time spent. I think they went in there and said you know what, we are going to make this a killer CD just for Malcolm, as if he was here. There is no compromise with Stevie on rythym, he is hitting on all cylinders. I was in to other music in 1980 when Back in Black was released, barely knew who they were. This may be better than BIB, heresy you say?
