instrument played by Swedish band member

Hi I'm new to this. I'm not sure if this is where I go to ask this question. I'm hoping if I do need to go somewhere else someone could please guide me there. Ok here is my question, I went to Joe's concert Monday evening in Fort Wayne, during the opening acoustic set there was a Swedish fellow playing what looked like an electric violin from mars! I know Joe told us what it was called. But for the life of me I cannot remember it. Please help!!!!
