Topic: Gibson ES-335 Dave Grohl reissue

Hi,
i've just seen this on Gibson webpage:

http://www2.gibson.com/Products/Electri … S-335.aspx

After all the critics to 2015 models and their features, i was worried Gibson was going to ruin the entire 2015 production!

Fortunately they still can make amazing guitars. smile

I've been waiting for this reissue for years, what do you think of the guitar?

I think it's a nice twist for a ES-335. I really want to add this to my es-335 collection!

Re: Gibson ES-335 Dave Grohl reissue

They made these several years ago, limited run.  I guess they're bringing them back. No surprise- Foo Fighters are still popular, Grohl has his new show "Sonic Highways" on HBO now (effing GREAT show, BTW), matching album just dropped....

Re: Gibson ES-335 Dave Grohl reissue

I'm a massive Foo Fighters fan.  I've wanted a DG-335 since they first came out, but could never afford one.  GuitarGuitar have one for £8,000 (from the original run).

It's great to see another run of them, but I doubt I'll be abile to get one of these sad Oh well!! lol.

Yes, i've seen it, and it ìs not even in perfect conditions!!!

Since they advertise a price of $3699 US dollars, i think they will come out here in europe at the price of a Es335 Rusty Anderson or Warren Haynes, so about 3000 euros. (the quote "starting from"...makes me fear that that price is for the Gold metallic ones(400 pieces), and that the Pelham Blue will cost a little more (200 pieces) )

They have different pickups from the original run (BurstBucker 1-2) as now they seems to have BB 2-3.

No info right now from my Italian and UK Gibson dealer...we will see! smile

Re: Gibson ES-335 Dave Grohl reissue

As i suspected it seems the two models will have quite different prices. They have the same specs, differ only in color and in number of pieces made (200 in Pelham Blue, 400 in Gold Metallic).
I don't have any sure info but a friend suggested that the gold ones will be around 3000 euros and Pelham Blue around 5000 euros (more or less).

Incredible how the same guitar can differ so much in prices, just because one is supposed to be in 200 pieces and one in 400 pieces, when to me they are just 600 identical guitars, but happen to have two different colors. Collectors or not, this to me is bad marketing. It's not a VOS, Aged, Aged+Signed situations.

Fine for me, i am saving for a VOS Skinnerburst, and this ES335 Grohl made me waver, but now that i know the whole story i am sure i will put my money on the Skinner (sooner or later smile LOL )

Well, I can only see that as Gibson making easy money on the fact that eveyone interested in this guitar will want it in pelham blue.  Who wants some gold colour when Dave's guitar is blue? That's how I see why there'd be a differance in price.

I've also noticed that Vintage Guitars (the brand) Have their take on the DG-335 too.

Re: Gibson ES-335 Dave Grohl reissue

As much as I'd like to have one of these, just to see if I'm a "335" guy at all (and because I love the Foos), based on Gibson's insane antics over recent years, I cannot give them my money.

Altho I do think the govt is hosing them over that imported rosewood deal.

It seems that the big difference in price between the Pelham Blue and Gold metallic is because the extra money is going to be donate as part of a massive charity campaign.

So you are not giving your money to Gibson! wink but to a good cause. The question is: is Gibson doing the same with the rest of the income from these guitars?

Because if Gibson donate the same amount given by the customer with the extra money, they will have to make these guitars almost for free! It's not the Gibson i know! smile

Re: Gibson ES-335 Dave Grohl reissue

You can pre-order them at GuitarGuitar, UK prices are £2,649.00 for the gold, and £5,099.00 for the blue.  And the blue has already been sold out.

And its great to hear that the reason for the differance is for charatible causes.

Re: Gibson ES-335 Dave Grohl reissue

I was looking at the first run of these guitars, and I ended up getting a 1965 Trini Lopez that had a neck repair instead... same price if not cheaper.

Ask me about my handwound Great Lakes Guitar Pickups
Since 2010, Bonamassa fans have taken advantage of my JB friend discount = my cost + shipping. cool

Congratulations on the Trini Lopez, it's a really cool guitar.
The new ES335 Dave Grohl Pelham Blue here in italy is selling at almost the same price of a brand new JB Skinnerburst VOS. I think that is insane. Considering that the Gold metallic is at almost half the price and that set the real value of the guitar.

These 335 may be really good, but how can they compare with a Skinnerburst, one of the best LP around?
