Topic: Kansas City show review

Of the times I've seen him this is my first disappointment because of the sound man The    volume was excruciating Since the adage "If you're not good be loud" obviously doesn't apply the painful level delivered by the sound man was more than a distraction

Re: Kansas City show review

Whenever I see a first post that is negative, I have to wonder about the motivation. It would seem that a true JB fan would have taken the time to introduce themselves first, and join in the conversation. I just dont understand how negativity can be the motivating factor for a first post.

Welcome to the forum and a word of advice. If you have sensitive ears, bring some ear protection. Blues Rock is LOUD, whether Joe plays it or another.

Re: Kansas City show review

Hey I was there too and the sound was kinda loud but in an echoey way. I could imagine setting up the sound in that building must have been frustrating. The set was great! He played a lil of everything, even one song I've never heard. The night before I drove around by the theatre around 8:00 blasting the new album out of my car. I saw a bunch of people standing out by the busses and was hoping Joe was one of them and could have met and talked to him but I guess it was just the roadies. It was a good show though. He started 5 min early so there were still a lot of people trying to get to there seats. Thanks for coming to KC and can't wait till next time. Keep up the good work guys!!

Re: Kansas City show review

Now for another view of Kansas City from a long time fan of Joe's who doesn't post here. C/P from fb with her permission.

All throughout the show, KC fans were riled up now. Joe , please forgive us. Especially the guy that continually spewed out outbursts of J O E. I totally understood why he couldn't contain himself. Here is my synopsis of the show. Maybe from a fans point of view, you will understand.
HAPPIER TIMES. Yeah, if I had to pick, this was the special song for me. The Huckleberry boys. Or band. Coolest instruments in the world. You won my 20 bucks. Washboard heaven. Wanted more...a whole CD with this band please. Sitting next to 2 70 something year old newbies. Witnessing their first experience was special. Newbies eager to learn everything about you. Having my view blocked by a giraffe ended up being a blessing. Eyes wide shut intensified every note and it was then that I found myself died and gone to heaven. It's what I would imagine heaven to be like.
Carmine cool. Class act. The newbies cupping their face in the palms of their hands in dismay at the sight of you in full guitar God mode rocking back and forth. My husband whispers of "he is kick **** man" or " man, he's kick ****" FULL OUT CHAIR DANCING!!! Then the subtlety of Slo Gin magnifying the sadness of that song yet so beautiful you didn't want the song to end. Brilliant! John Henry closer. Where is the bucket of water above me??? Fun Fun Fun Fun a Fun Wait.... No way....Mountain Time encore? Tears streaming down my cheeks. Time to run up to the bar for some full on dancing. JOY. Tra la la

Re: Kansas City show review

Wow that was an interesting review! It was damn poetic. I can relate to you with some of the distractions. That guy yelling Joe every song did get annoying but not as bad as the 2 girls sitting behind me talking and playing with there phones the intire show. I sat next to a guy that just discovered Joe and me and him wanted to throw those girls off the balcony lol. My favorite song is Sloe Gin and I wished he would have done the accustic version but it still was amazing. The band was Excellent! Tal and Lenny blew me away. After every show I wish I could jump on the bus with them and head to the next one. I wish the Grand Emporium was still open. I would have to see him play there back in 07 but I hadn't known about Joe untill 09. Oh and I never got flyers to hand out but it turns out KC already knows who he is and will sell out every time he comes so Eric now I see why I never got any, all the other KC street team did there job! Not a single seat left open. Even though it was a lil loud it still sounded awesome! Like I always say if it's too loud your too old! Great job and F**k the Haters cuz no one is paying to watch them!

Re: Kansas City show review

This was the fourth time I have seen Joe in five years.  The first in this same building. At that time, I declared that it was the best show I had ever seen, until now.  This show seemed to be enhanced by the addition of the new keyboard player whose deep rumbling wall of sound reminded me of Jon Lord in Deep Purple's hey day.  What a treat.
Joe as usual was in top form ( has he EVER given a half assed performance? )  I will always pay whatever it takes to go see Joe perform.

Re: Kansas City show review

Well, this sounds like a normal Joe show review...some people complaining how loud it is, while others applying hero worship to his perfection...I've seen him multiple times and always been toward the front and I never think it's too loud, but , then again, I can't hear anymore because of all the concerts I've been to...ironic.Well, Joe must be doing something right...He's selling out at high ticket prices...He is really reaping the benefits of the years of hard constant touring and his army of rabid followers...and what's with the people who yell through the whole show, or talk constantly...go home!! Watch it on tv.

Re: Kansas City show review

I think Joe is loud and proud and then likes to slow it down so we mere mortals can see the intricate work he does.  Either way, Joe plays all in or nothing
