Topic: Dallas Show. All Fender Amp Line 11/7/2014

Just wanted to stop in and let the forum know that Joe's new all Fender vintage amp set-up is stunning in tone.  During the acoustic set I was checking out the beautiful line of tweed Fenders and just assumed Joe had the Fenders for a few of the new tunes from the new album.  But when the lights came up after intermission, there they were.  All four Fenders behind his trademark plexiglass.  No Marshalls anywhere and even his pedalboard looked pared way down.

But that TONE!!!

The vintage Fenders with Joe's collection of Les Paul's was incredible.  The crunch when he was playing chords to the soaring solos that just cut to your soul.  It's hard to describe just how good his guitar tone is on this tour.  Joe's live tone has always been amazing, but he has taken it up another notch this time.

You really owe it to yourself to make a show this tour.  I made a five hour drive this time and it would have been worth a ten hour drive.

Sounds like you had a fantastic show and the setlist that Jim Moody posted on facebook looked killer! Can't wait to see Joe! Only 10 more days!

I agree about the tone/sound. Just fantastic! and the Verizon venue was a great place to see Joe.

Really my only complaint was certain audience members that would go to the front of the stage and take "selfies" with Joe in the background and most of these people had seats in the first 2 rows!!!! One moron got his cell phone so close to Joe's guitar, that I thought he was going to get hit with the neck of Joe's guitar when Joe turned around to walk to the other side of the stage.
This ain't your living room people!!!

Sorry for the rant....

Joe and the band seemed to take everything in stride and the energy was great.
Even when someone tossed their cowboy hat on stage, Joe picked it up and wore it while he played Django & Mountain Time. And DANG! Joe looked good wearing it!

OK, now i'm getting excited, Joe's tone has always been superb but if it's even better than i'll be over the moon. Less than a month to go till Greenville, S.C.

The show in Dallas/Grand Prairie last night was wonderful. My only concern was that the sound quality and volume off Joe's mic was not what they should have been. A lot of the aspects of his voice were lost and not coming through the sound system. Other than that, the show could not have been better.

I also love that he starts promptly and uses the time to provide his fabulous music.

Hidden Charms and Double Trouble were songs that he did for the Muddy Wolf shows at the end of August.

Someone did that in Tulsa last night. Joe leaned down and shot the girl taking the selfie with Joe in the background the finger which cracked everybody up. I wish I had a picture of that.

The three of us were in the KERA block of seats in the 203 section in Dallas. Obviously, there were ticket holders for the three seats immediately in front of us. Whoever they were, those folks were not in their seats. At least we did not have to put up with iphones obstructing our views. At one point, somebody had a phone up in front of the camera that was feeding to the auditorium screens. Not nice.

My brother brought a young 20-something guitarist who is a huge JB fan. Young Trevor was among the very few attendees from that age demographic. He was in his seat the whole time. It seems that some of the oldies from my generation could learn some manners from some of the few young guys who were there.

Still a great show.

We were in section 103 so I guess the 3 people that were supposed to be in front of you; were the ones that kept running up and down the aisle! LOL!

I haven't heard those songs either but his solo on Double Trouble was simply stellar, even by his own standards. A highlight of the night for me. Another fantastic show.

One other thing about the Dallas show -- I could not have been more delighted to see that he moves from song to song and guitar to guitar with no interruption. I had seen this in his dvd's, but did not know if there might have been some editing involved.

Way back in my college days when the dinosaurs roamed, I attended a John Denver (RIP) concert. It was excruciating. He used one guitar, a 12-string. The man spent more time tuning and retuning that guitar than he did playing it.
