Topic: Fat Man and The Maniacs

Back in the late 80's and early 90's My wife and good friend Don made the trip to Memphis to see Fat Man and The Maniacs on Beale St.  The band was incredible and the big guy never disappointed.  I kinda forgot about him until recently and found this video.  J.D. Steagall still gots it.

Re: Fat Man and The Maniacs

My buddy Don just emailed me and said J.D. passed away in July 2010.  This makes me sad.  I still can see this motley group of guys with duct tape on old Fender amps getting their gear set up in a small bar across the street from the Rum Boogie.  It's four in the afternoon and the party hasn't even started and then some giant of a man walks in with a chipped Strat (like Phil Sayce), plugs it in and our collective jaws hit the floor simultaneously.  Rest in peace brudda!

Hey man, I was one of that motley crew back in the day with J.D. I'm Eric the bass player for him from '89 to "93ish. Yeah, we had junk for gear but we made a lot of music together. I miss him dearly and I learned more from him than almost anyone I've worked with. I was supposed to meet you a few weeks ago at Rockhouse Live but your plane was delayed. Maybe next time!
