Topic: Joe Standing At The Crossroads (Literally)

I think it is so cool that Joe went to the crossroads. I can't post his Twitter pic here, maybe someone else can to share.  I bet Robert Johnson was standing right next to him and it must have been a thrilling emotional moment for Joe. I do hope he shares some of the experience, did he play a song on the spot and if so what? Maybe it will be on the DVD for Red Rocks...a lead in to the main event, part of his preparation so to speak.  Guess time will tell or maybe Joe will give us a report back.  So very cool and so happy for him cool

I've found it hard to believe that he wasn't there before (in this life time) he's been pretty much everywhere on the planet

yes it would be nice if they took time to record him doing CrossRoads

It is cool. I thought the same thing Patty, getting in gear for his upcoming shows in Wyoming & Colorado. A pilgrimage to the roots of the Blues. Seems like exactly the kind of vacation Joe would enjoy smile

Re: Joe Standing At The Crossroads (Literally)

There is some that believe the Crossroads is Hi-way 61 and 49 outside of Clarksdale. Of course if you put it in the context of the song then Rosedale is Hi-way 1 and 8. Depends on what historian you want to believe. I have been to Clarksdale but not Rosedale. Clarksdale proclaims their intersection is the Crossroads Robert Johnson sings about. I am inclined to believe that as well. Hi-way 49 is the road from Jackson to Helena Arkansas and 61 is the Hi-way to Memphis. Much busier intersection I would think back in the day of Robert Johnson.

For a good read that makes you want to take a Delta Pilgrimage see if you can find this book.  http://www.amazon.com/Crossroad-Blues-N … 0312971923 I met the author in Memphis in 2001. Memphis is also a great place for history buffs that dig the blues.
