Re: Drawings of Joe & his guitars

That is reeeeaaallly good, Natasha!  It looks fantastic!  Outstanding likeness, proportion and the shading is what really makes it come alive.

Very nice! Particularly good work with the guitar on that one as well - guitar's are difficult to illustrate.

Re: Drawings of Joe & his guitars

Just discovered your latest artwork. Is the original from BonaVegas? Personally I like the coloured ones best although I envy people like you who are very good in black & white, graphic arts. As an autodidact you enormously advance. I love to see Joe through a medium which you discovered lately.

I like when they have color also. The image is from BonaVegas. I love the photos I have from that show because the lighting was so good and the colors of the guitars look stunning against the white suit. I have a number of photos from that show. They are in the Vegas album on my flickr account. I really want to do another from that show where Joe has kind of a fierce look on his face and no glasses,  but right now my hand hurts. I go a little too much full steam ahead when I get into things and I was up till 2 am finishing that one I just did. Once I get started on a project, it's really hard for me to stop. I get super focused. I have a kind of fun image of Tal I might try to do next also, so we'll see.

Well, I decided to have another go at the colored pencils. I think this one came out better. Especially with regards to the face.

Well, Natasha: What's the size of your wonderful artworks, f.e. this Bonavegas I?
1 inch is about 2,45 centimeters (cm) in Germany.
Thanks in advance!

Hi Natasha, that is a really cool drawing. You should look at selling some on here. big_smile

Come on the Blades (sorry Idolbone just had to borrow your line)

Re: Drawings of Joe & his guitars

Just finished doing one of Tal. Thought I'd start with a B&W one first then do one in color. The image is drawn from a photo by Rhonda Pierce.

Re: Drawings of Joe & his guitars

I am really starting to look forward to seeing your drawings.  Often I don't 'get' art  but these I really enjoy.  Thank you for sharing them.

Re: Drawings of Joe & his guitars

Thanks Hogsniper. I'm glad you're enjoying them smile

Here is Joe with "Spot"  I'm pleased with the way the guitar turned out, but man Joe's head is so difficult sometimes. Had to redo the top of the head I don't know how many times. The photo I was working off of didn't show the top and it was hard to figure how to do it quite right.

Love this one! The shading work you did with the clothing is superb.
As far as the head - don't worry too much. Artists spend years and years mastering the human form, in then usually remain enamored with it from then on. In fact beyond early art classes, drawing models is pretty much all you do.

Re: Drawings of Joe & his guitars

Thanks Jack. I tend to get real OCD with these things. I guess I need to try and chill about it since I am still new at it all. Probably shouldn't pick ones with crazy expressions but I liked the guitar, and it's all about the guitar isn't it wink

Re: Drawings of Joe & his guitars

I like it.  Exceptional work on the guitar!  Just curious/nosy: about how long does it take to do one of these drawings?

Re: Drawings of Joe & his guitars

Actually, picking the ones that are more difficult are good to do, they force you to keep improving. Just don't get too frustrated - but I know what you mean, I tend to be a perfectionist about art, so I'm never happy unless I get something just how I want it.

...and yes, the guitar is the most important part ;-)

Re: Drawings of Joe & his guitars

Thought I'd get back to the drawing thing since I've been lazy lately. Here is Joe with Principal Skinner. A pencil sketch because I feel like I am screwing up the colored ones. Need to practice a bit more.
