Re: RIP Les Paul

Not many people have left their mark quite like Les. Now all the original Strat and Les Paul men are gone.... it doesn't seem right for some reason. RIP.... join the great jam in the sky.

Never saw that before. Loved it. Thanks for that.

As Ozzy and Zakk Wylde have been in 'Other Artists' this week its topical. I saw an interview with Zakk where he mentioned he met Les Paul. Paul asked him who he was and Zakk told him and mentioned he had a signature guitar named after him.

Paul apparently replied "Yeah, me too".

I love that story. Not just any old guitar is it. Probably 'the' signature guitar. I've already had mails from the 2 guitarists in my band that Saturdays gig will feature a 'Blues for Les' section. I guess there will be many out there playing something a little special for 'The Man'.

Re: RIP Les Paul

These are from the Classic Rock Magazine web site. Thought they would be of interest.

The following tributes have poured in since the death of Les Paul:

Slash
“Les Paul was a shining example of how full one’s life can be, he was so vibrant & full of positive energy. I’m honored & humbled to have known & played with him over the years, he was an exceptionally brilliant man.”

Billy Gibbons
“Les Paul brought six strings to electricity and electricity to six strings. Les Paul was an innovator, a groundbreaker, a risk taker, a mentor and a friend. Try to imagine what we’d be doing if hadn’t come along and changed the world. There will always be more Les to come. That’s certified.”

Ace Frehley
“The music industry has lost a giant! I’m very saddened by the news of Les Paul’s passing. I was lucky enough to have known Les as a friend, and admired him as a musician and innovator. He forever changed the way we listen to music.”

Joan Jett
“I, and everyone at Blackheart Records, mourn the passing of our dear friend, Les Paul. He was a genius inventor, musical innovator, and a wonderful person. Without the advances he pioneered, the recording sciences and the electric guitar would have been left years behind. I will miss him so much.”

Rickey Medlocke of Lynyrd Skynryd
“I’m so thankful that this guy was such an incredible genius for developing such a great guitar. I am a 3rd generation Gibson user and I always will be. God bless Les Paul.”

When I was a child I spoke as a child, But all I heard was how I should get ahead,
Now growing up it ain't anything but all This indecision with these debts and doubts
And worries hanging over my head. When I was a child I spoke as a child,
I wish I could remember what I said.

Reverend Paul,

I only just noticed your strap line for the first time. You are an Outlaws fan! There's a band worth a whole new thread! Sadly nearly all gone now, but the music and songs live on. So glad to find another out there smile

RIP Les Paul

Obviously a sad loss to the world of music. But he leaves a lasting legacy.

Condolences to those close to him.

A little remembrance post ... a quick 5 years have passed.

Its often said ... "gone, but not forgotten."  Very true here ... even if just for a flash moment when we plug in ... or drop the needle on some favorite wax.
