Topic: Hopefully the musicians here will appreciate this.

Yesterday, I reached the half way point in tabbing out Joe's parts from the Rock Candy Funk Party Takes New York CD/DVD. After probably hundreds of hours listening and tabbing, i can say with confidence I have 6 entire songs tabbed out with the exception of the parts where joe is just doing an ad libbed funk strum under ron or renatos solos since those parts are very difficult to hear. The songs I have are...

Work
We Want Groove
Heartbeat
Spaztastic
Steppin' In It
One Phone Call

I still have these 6 to go.

Octopus-e
New York Song
Ode To Gee
Dope On A Rope
The Best Ten Minutes Of Your Life
Mr. Clean

anyways I figured I would just share that.

Cheers,

Django

Re: Hopefully the musicians here will appreciate this.

That's a lot of tabbing Django! I can't imagine how hard that is, keep up the good work! smile

Re: Hopefully the musicians here will appreciate this.

Thanks! I'm glad someone can appreciate this, and yes it was very difficult, the time it took is probably best measured in hundreds of hours, even with a Tascam CD-GT2 to slow down certain parts. The two hardest licks to get note for note were the one hyper speed lick in the Heartbeat solo, and the pedaltone lick before the modulation in Spaztastic.

Django, I can certainly appreciate the amount of time effort and dedication it takes. This is not and easy task!

That is impressive.  I have tried it before with no luck, and that was on some easy stuff.

Re: Hopefully the musicians here will appreciate this.

That's a crap-ton of work!
Now the thing I'm most interested in, do you have the underlying chords as well?

Re: Hopefully the musicians here will appreciate this.

well the chords that Ron and Renato put under the solos are Diatonic so it doesn't seem Joe changes with them, he will change from one mode to the other to change the feel, as well as add some b5's and chromatics. For example in the One Phone Call solo at points he is in 3 different modes... F Dorian, F Phrygian, and F Aeolian (Natural Minor). So no I did not transcribe the chords underneath.

Re: Hopefully the musicians here will appreciate this.

yes its really impresive

Re: Hopefully the musicians here will appreciate this.

That's a lot of work, congrats on the progress.  Probably a really good exercise for your ears!

Tabbing is tedious. God bless ya!

Did you lay them out on Guitar Pro?

JBLP (aged) 293, JBLP STD, JB ES-335, JBLP Studio, JBLP Goldtop Epi, JBLP Inverness Green Epi.

Re: Hopefully the musicians here will appreciate this.

I don't know what that is

Re: Hopefully the musicians here will appreciate this.

Done with Ode To Gee...

Now just 3 to go, New York Song, The Best Ten Minutes Of Your Life, Mr. Clean.

It occured to me that I have been slowly tabbing out this album for about a year now. It isn't a constant thing, I'll do it in spurts, like I just did 3 songs in a month after not doing any for a couple months

Re: Hopefully the musicians here will appreciate this.

done with Mr. Clean...

10 down, 2 to go
