Topic: My top favorite solo from the 2014 Spring Tour

Thought I'd share what I feel was Joe's top solo from the Spring tour, "Blues Deluxe" from Syracuse. We saw a number of shows this past Spring and it was a little hard to decided between this one and the solo he did in Des Moines, but this one actually offered an extra 50 second of jaw dropping, face melting, guitar pleasure. Hope you enjoy smile

Just enjoyed the unique Maestro of the guitar JB. Thanks for sharing, Natasha. Always a pleasure to watch your material. Keep on, keep on...

Re: My top favorite solo from the 2014 Spring Tour

I think the spring version of Blues Deluxe is by far my favorite rendition of this song.  I thought the version on Tour De Force was something  until we saw him  do it live at Lexington Ky and at the Ryman.   We heard him play it live in 2012 and it was closer to the style he did on RAH.    This version you filmed totally captures the fire I felt live this year.  Thanks for this

Umm yeah, that was okay.  wink

Wow, that was amazing!!!!!!!!

Re: My top favorite solo from the 2014 Spring Tour

I might have to agree. Blues Deluxe was not played at the show i saw in the spring. The video evidence makes the case pretty strong that this was exceptional compared to other versions of the song and of course the black 59' seals the deal.

As Joe had said in his tweet when he posted the video this solo is taken from: "Perhaps I was showing off for Mom" smile

This is cool because he is playing with a lot of fire, but for me I prefer the solos of the other Blues Deluxe.  They were more in-depth, was more raw and bluesy.  I really wouldn't chose this as one of my favorite solos of his. Fire-wise where he shows a lot of passion, yes it is spectacular.  Just note-wise, I prefer others.

Could be best for 2014, I am just talking overall Blues Deluxe.

Re: My top favorite solo from the 2014 Spring Tour

Just as an FYI there is a little over a minute that I cut off from the beginning of the solo that has slower notes and sustain, but given people's short attention spans these days, I figured it was better to start it where Joe really starts flying smile

Re: My top favorite solo from the 2014 Spring Tour

I hope that you don't mind, I shared it on my Facebook page.  It's just an incredible solo and I felt compelled to share it with my friends.  Spreading the word, or in this case a guitar solo, about Joe any chance I get.  smile

Please share! Stuff like this isn't meant to be kept hidden away smile That's why I have everything on youtube. So the world can see the guitar genius that is Joe Bonamassa smile

In the context of the topic which states favorite from the Spring Tour. There are so many solos from Blues Deluxe over the years that I couldn't tell you which is my favorite all time. There are just too many memorable solos.

I see now other versions was from 2014.  Yes he does play a lot of memorable solos, which makes it very hard to pick.  It's great to have so much to chose from smile

Re: My top favorite solo from the 2014 Spring Tour

Yes, that was a great version of Blues Deluxe, but my favorite is still from RAH 2009. That being said, if I were to rank them all, the gap between first and last would be about point zero zero zero......

I think you'll get my point.

Cheers

Re: My top favorite solo from the 2014 Spring Tour

I would have to pick Django/Mountain Time.  Not just for the solos (which are always a favorite of mine even if this is one of the few songs Joe hasn't changed up as much as some recently) but just for the whole presentation of it with the addition of Mats and Jerry in the mix - such a rich sound!  A total goosebumps song.

Not a solo but Ball Peen Hammer.  That version was around 90 seconds longer than the Vienna Opera House version.
