+1.

Yep, this is out of my range, especially with travel, hotel.  Maybe without the PBS contribution and M&G components, it might work.

Can anyone recommend a suitable hotel nearby?

I would so do this if it wasn't in January. All I can see from Wisconsin to NY are weather delays and cancellations. UGH.... sad

Hey Barbie!

I thought of that right away too.  Surely a huge downside.  But I was considering taking a leisurely trip on the train.
But I realize that is not an option for you, though.

Holy **##, I can't believe my ears/eyes!

Ouch, $475 is a bit pricey. Anyone know when tix will go on sale?

I believe that is the PBS package price. When tickets go on sale there will be other price points I'm sure. Love NYC not so sure in January. If I don't make it there spending a few days on the cruise will more than make up for it.

Are we going to go through this again?  Entertainment is expensive, NY is expensive.  Can't afford it...not sure I would spend the money either.  Definitely not spending the money for a cruise.  Life goes on and we all make decisions where we are going to spend our discretionary dollars.  The whining is getting boring.

There's one in Boston being promoted on pbs as well. Boston isn't cheap, but there are cheap hotels within 15-40 minutes, depending on what your criteria is. Comfort inn in Cambridge for example, can be as low as $100/night. There are lots of options within 30 minutes of of the city.

I'm not a fan of NYC, so I don't know if the same is possible there.

Re: Radio City January 23

I was checking NY hotels today and there are some decent prices (by NY standards) at decent places near Radio City Music Hall.

Rick, compared to $390 for two tickets in the back row of the less than luxurious Apollo in London, $475 for two seats in what is probably a much more intimate and exclusive venue with a meet and greet doesn't seem quite so outrageous.

I do understand you'd have a few thousand miles to travel to get there which may be the deciding factor, however. Is it cold in NY in January? wink

Wish this was not during tax season, no time off for me during January.  Love New York and Radio City is such a great venue.  Joe has another one to mark off his list.  Glad they will film this one.

Re: Radio City January 23

Bob, hold your horses! I"m not complaining about prices in general. I never do. LOL But this is for meet and greet, etc and sponsored by the TV station. The normal seat prices are in the $100-!50 range or there abouts. I"m not opposed to those prices at all.  I always defend the prices to other fans who say $100 or so is too much to charge.

And I live in NYC so you don't have to tell me about prices. LOL

Make sure you check out the hotels in NY.....what may seem like reasonable prices could mean being in  a ratty hotel in Times Square somewhere.

And NY in January is freezing. Expect 25 degree days.

This is all I can find on the Boston show. Does anyone else know of a different link? www.wgbh.org/support/boxoffice_bonamassa.cfm

Thanks so much for your support Jane; appreciate it. I wasn't really complaining......lol

I just hope I can tix now! Actually, I think Joe could probably sell out three shows at this place.

Re: Radio City January 23

One of the draw backs of email, texting, tweeting and what ever type of social media anyone uses is, it is difficult to understand the inflection that the words were used .  Maybe it was the way I was raised, maybe it is the business world I have dealt with for decades, maybe I'm just a jerk  (I've been called that and worse), but I pretty much say what I think.  Not going out of my way to upset anyone, but some times it happens.  Do not think it's happened yet, but if Joe did something that caused me to react I would say what I felt and if I hurt his feelings, I'm sure he would not turn down my credit card the next time I was going to buy one of his litho's or a front row seat to one of his concerts.  On second thought, Joe might, but I guarantee Roy wouldn't.
