If you wear crash helmets, you must expect serious injuries in my opinion. The neck is very fragile and even motorsport now has the hans device to help prevent whiplash injuries. Get rid of all the head gear or replace it with the "soft" variety, reduce the shoulder padding and the forceful play should be reduced. It may not stop injuries, but players will be more careful about hurting themselves, never mind their oponents, if they are less protected!

Try watching the Rugby World Cup which is being held in France at the moment, and by world cup, I mean there are teams from all over the world playing, not just from one country LOL! very little head gear, a few cauliflower ears, and next to no padding. Some of those guys are 6ft 10in and weight 10 tons - awesome!

Ok, I've had enough.  Are the Dolphins never going to win a game?  This is getting ridiculous.  OK.  So you may not like the Dolphins, but I just have to vent a little because I do.  They get so close, but they never pull it off.  Arrrgggghhhh!!!!  mad

No sympathy here Bill - just think of us poor Wisconsin fans - the Cubs ruined the Brewers
chance at the playoffs,  Northern Illinois ended the Badgers winning streak Saturday, and
we all know what the Bears did to the Packers last night.  You guys are killing us!!!

What the Bears did? You must mean what the Packers did to themselves. The game would have been over by the end of the 1st quarter if Jones doesn't drop those two balls deep in Chicago territory. Oh well, you can't win 'em all. That is, except for the 1972 Dolphins!

Thanks Bill.  I guess it's true what they say.  Misery loves company.  I keep saying I'm gonna start rooting for the Bucs or the Panthers, but I can't. The Dolphins are my team.  I barely remember  the good ole days with "Don Shula", "Bob Griese", "LarryCsonka" etc....  The 1972 undefeated season.  The back to back super bowl wins. What happened to my "Mighty Dolphins"?  It's been over 30 years.

Oh well, I'm not giving up. The Red Sox finally beat the Yankees and went on to win the World Series so miracles do happen.   It looks like it may be awhile for the Dolphins though. They have to start by winning a game.  sad

Drop? You must be referring to those awesome strips that Peanut Tillman made!
I feel your pain though. I believe the Bears are still leading the league in turnovers. It was an accomplishment to leave Lambeau Field having made only a single TO! When it comes to putting the ball on the turf (or in the opponents hands), the Bears have been in a league of their own...which is a prime reason why they're 2-3.

Susan,

I'm still waiting for your address. Did you get the E-mail I sent you via the Forum? And don't worry about the Dolphins, it's all cyclical and they will have their day again. Hey, remember the 1972 Dolphins? Oh that's right, you're too young to remember those guys. smile

Dearest Susan, if you have some pent up team spirit, I implore you to jump onboard my Indians bandwagon for the upcoming wild ride vs. the Red Sawks, Big Ken too. The Tribe spends their springs in Winterhaven, that can't be too far from you two is it? C'mon gang help a brother out. If you two are Marlins fans then you owe me one from '97. You've gotta be Marlin fans cause I don't think Devil Ray fans actually exist, do they????? Good God and to think the Giants almost landed in Tampa Bay.

Re: FOOTBALL!!

hell of a monday night game last night.  i was on the edge of my seat.  who is going to agree with me when i say the colts are hands down the best team in the nfl.  they have undergone a role reversal with the pats, and as a colts fna i love it.  it used to be the colts had the amaing team that looked totally unstoppable with all the superstars putting up all the highlight reel plays but not winning the super bowl.  meanwhile the patriots quietly went about their business and won when it mattered.  current scenario: everyone talks about the patriots whilst overlooking the colts despite the fact they are the undefeated reigning champions.  i love the nfl.  that game last night was perfect evidence as to why i can have no particular interest in or allegiance to either team and still really enjoy the games.  and i think last nights game also reinforces my belief that the parity between teams is near perfect.  my point is you dont get 40 point spreads in the nfl while in college you see them every week.

Re: FOOTBALL!!

Shred, I never doubted for a second who you'd root for once the Yanks were tucked in for the winter. Further more you can ride shotgun on this party wagon as far as it will go. I'm not gonna make any rash predictions cause that's like betting from the heart instead of usin' yer noggin'. It looks like a big shake up in the big apple is comin'. The Yankees will probably have a very new look to them come spring training, not to mention more youthful. If Torre gets the axe as predicted he probably won't wait too long for a new job. The buzz is that Tony LaRussa and his GM Walt Jockety are headed to Seattle and I would imagine Torre would be the first guy the Cards would talk to being a legacy there in his heyday. Stranger things happen in MLB though, after all it's all about the benjamins, can I get a HELL YEAH????

Ok Roy, that's it!!! I am NOT rooting for the Packers anymore.
Side note: My father (may he RIP), was a die hard Bears fan, but when their season would end he would cheer on the Packers, if they were still in it. He said they were a good midwest team and he felt compelled to pull for them.
Now, most Bears fans have two favorite football teams: The Bears and whoever is playing the Packers!

Yes, I do know. It was the entire stadium of Packer fans who in the mid-third quarter started chanting "The Bears still suck". This is not something you want to do because once Brian and the Bears defense get fired up...well, you saw the results. Five turnovers.

What an awesome game. I've never been to a NFL game before. We were five rows up from the field, right in the corner where the Packers come out of the tunnel. I must say Lambeau is one great stadium. The little group of Bears fans in our area were hanging their heads until the third quarter. Then the turnovers started, we yelled ourselves hoarse and the Packer fans sat on their hands the rest of the game. Sweet! It was total excitment right down to the last two minutes. I don't care if the Bears don't win another game this season (and they might not). Bringing it to the Packers in their house...priceless. big_smile

I'm just saying.

Re: FOOTBALL!!

Roy - Yes Nancy is definitely rubbing it in - big time!  But, because she deserved a night of
fun right about now, and because this was her first NFL game I will let her slide.  Only this
one time however!  But I just have to wonder - how do these Bear fans get their tickets
into Lambeau?  I have been on the season ticket waiting list for 29 years and still will
never see tickets in my lifetime.  I'll end it here, before I say something about da Bears
that I shouldn't!!
