Topic: Led Zeppelin Reissues & Zepp Month on Planet Rock
I don't think there's a thread discussing the latest Zeppelin reissues and new material being released today. If there is I'll blame the forum search function.
If you are dithering over whether to buy yet another Zeppelin reissue, you can check out the first album and accompanying disc in full tonight on Planet Rock. Broadcast time for Planet Rock Plays it in Full is 11pm UK time, midnight in (most of) the rest of Europe, 6pm on the west coast of the States and 3pm on the west coast. If you're in Aus, you may be able to listen in the morning at work.
Brief details of Led Zeppelin Month can be found by following the link. Click the Listen Live button at the top of the page or the On Demand button to listen later. I think the latter may not work outside the UK so try to catch the shows live.
If you missed last night's My Planet Rocks with Jimmy Page, you can listen again on demand via the above-mentioned button or live on Thursday, 5th June at 8pm UK time, 9pm in Europe, 3pm on the East coast and midday on the West coast. This show has lots of (not always coherent) chat from Jimmy and plenty of familiar Zeppelin songs from the reissues as you've never heard them before. Why not tune in an hour earlier and catch the BluesPower show - well worth the effort.
What do I think of what I've heard so far? Definitely enough to tempt me to buy yet another Zeppelin CD or 10. The tracks I've heard from the first three albums have sufficient subtle and not so subtle differences that make them attractive to a die hard Zeppelin fan. Some of the versions are obviously demo takes but others are true alternative versions that contain some superb playing, particularly from Bonzo. What a great drummer that man was.
Please post your comments on the reissues, good or bad, here.
Thanks
Phil
