Topic: What a Year to be a Boston Sports Fan.

I'm am usually a very even headed and calm guy, but I am DEFINITLY going to stick it in Y'alls faces right now!
Lets start with the Pats,  INVINCIBLE.  What else is there to say?  Ok theres some who will argue that they cheated blah blah blah,  all it comes down to is that Who Cares?  They dont need to cheat, they'le steam roll you anyways.  The Patriots are a force that no one in the NFL can touch.  I believe DOMINATION is the word i am looking for.
Ok now on the the Red Sox.  AL EAST for the first time since '95.  Holy Moley here we go boys!  Red Sox are on the path to another world series! (Knock on wood).  With Beckett, Matsuzaka and Schilling going its looking pretty good, plus look at all the young talent:  Papelbon, Pedroia, Ellisbury, Bucholz  This is CRAZY. Were in for a long Red Sox Domination as well,  lets go BOYZ!
So now were onto the Celtics, Holy God watch out NBA.  Ray Allen, Paul Pierce AND Kevin Garnett?!  How on Gods green earth did that work out?  I think the Sports Gods have aligned the stars in out favor, We Boston fans have done our suffering, now its time for us to move on up to the top.  Get ready world, here comes the Boston Domination in Sports.
Peace out!

Re: What a Year to be a Boston Sports Fan.

Easy Conner, ya got to win all 3 sports in the same season first. Actually I think it happened in Baltimore the early 70s, I know the Orioles and Bullets won it the same year, just dont think the Colts did it or am I wrong?

I'm sure you didnt catch my post awhile back, I'm all over the Celtics bandwagon, K.G. and Ray Allen are 2 of my favs in the NBA. I tell everybody, Tom Brady is the closes thing to Montana in field presence. I know he's still heartbroken he wasnt a 49er, he grew up in our back yard. And heh, the Sox are fun to watch, even i felt good for them when they finally won it a few years back, even though I'm the biggest Yankee fan from Cali. who has never been to New York.

Have a great year, this may be something to tell the grandkids some day!

Re: What a Year to be a Boston Sports Fan.

Hey Conner,
Boston sports may be making history, it's got to be incredibly exciting to be there!!  Have fun and enjoy the ride!!!  You have a great city there, I was so impressed with so many positve aspects when I visited there over Easter last spring.  After taking child #1 to check out colleges , child #2 who is now a  high school junior, announced he would like to apply to Boston Univ., child #1 was accepted at Boston College early, opted elsewhere. I can think of about 10 kids from our area that ended up in Boston for college this fall.  When it gets down to it, I don't think child #2's interest has anything to do with the education, it has to do with Boston sports!!!  He takes being a Philadelphia sports fan really hard...the Eagles are killing him...

Yeah Boston is Definiteley a unique city.  Its not huge and overwhelming like NYC, and it has more colleges and universities than you can shake a stick at,  I'm a t Berklee now.  If you can;t have fun in boston, somethings wrong.  Boston for life!

Re: What a Year to be a Boston Sports Fan.

This has nothing to do with sports, but I'm trying to find my cousin Walter Stanul who
makes quitars and other musical instruments in Boston - I know it's a big town but
since we are 'guitar people" anyone heard of him?  I think he may teach at one of the
universities there.

I found the missing cousin - apparently he makes classical guitars etc and gives classes
at Harvard.  Now I just have to find him email address.  Not heard anything from him
in 30 years.  Maybe he knows who Joe is?

Re: What a Year to be a Boston Sports Fan.

Conner, I've found over the years the best way to put the hoodoo whammy on your team is by countin' your chickens before they hatch. Ever heard of the Sports Illy Cover Hex? Years ago I got on the phone and called a good friend who is a Browns fan like myself to ask him where we should go to watch the Super Bowl just before Ernest Byner fumbled on the goal line and the Broncos recovered and held on to get the oppurtunity to have their jocks handed to them by the 49er's. Good Luck, did you catch the Indians throttling of the Yankees tonight??????????????

Yeah - over in WI. Brett Favre was pretty mad we didn't get Moss... so enjoy him while he's blossoming. We're not in a position to complain either. We're winning and will continue to win. I wouldn't mind seeing a NE vs GB superbowl again as long as it has the same results as last time.

ya know the Patriots were illegally taping GB packer activities last year, our organization caught them and told them to stop, so they did. I think the Patsys won 35-0.  you're right, they dont need to cheat - which makes it worse when they do. I think if they admit it, thats fine - all forgiven...keep on playing football. I agree with the penalty they were given.

Im not really a brewers fan, although I would've like to see them make the playoffs. I'd simply love to see a Cubs vs. Red Sox World Series. I grew up watching wade boggs and roger clemens, and Larry Bird!

Re: What a Year to be a Boston Sports Fan.

Sorry Angela, I just had to respond when you brought up blabber mouth Curt. He may have to play for the Red Sawks and the Phils if he opens his yap about Barry Bonds again. Barry's lawyers here in Oakland have the lawsuit drafted and ready to deliver to Schilling if he professes any further inaccurate accounts of Barry's use of steroids to the press. I doubt it will pan out that way as Curt dropped the subject like a nasty habit. Other than that he's a helluva player. Just the facts ma'am.

Re: What a Year to be a Boston Sports Fan.

Jdawg-I don't know much about Schilling's statements, but the threat of a lawyer is enough to make things change.  I just came to the realization that my cousin's son is best friends with his son, here in South Jersey.  Curt got them tickets for the Phillies playoff...how do these guys live so far from their families??? He left here in 2000.

How about Marian 'fessing up to steroids after all those times she denied it and even sued the source of the steroids for slander when they said they sold them to her ???  Insert John Lennon's line...how do you sleep at night...

Hope you are feeling well John and hanging tough...you sound like a very brave man...keep the faith...to borrow Rocket's line!  smile With the Phillies out of the equation, it's looks like the majority of my household is routing for your team!!!

Curts got a house in Medway Ma. ( Drew Bledsoes old manse )  that he lives in with the familiy during the season. He and his wife Shondra are very active in local charities . Curt does have lots to say , but he also can back it up most of the time.     <<  Best all-time e.r.a. in post-season play ..............  Paul/JBrules

Re: What a Year to be a Boston Sports Fan.

Angela, the speculation is running rampant on Bay Area sports talk radio about Barry confessing next, but I doubt that he will if he's entertaining thoughts of DHing in the American league next season, probably for the Angels so he can work out of his home in Beverly Hills. You never know whats goin' through that guys mind on any given day. One things for sure, Schilling really ruffled his feathers.

JBRules, well the juries in, the Yankees are not invincible. So bring on the SAWKS!!!! This is gonna be an intense series to say the least, stats wise we've got the 2 best teams in baseball this season. May the best team win, but I think you know which way I'm leaning.
