Topic: Red Rocks Set List?

Soon enough to start the game of guess your best. Let's have some flying darts folks. We can all play this game and know that many will really make the cut. big_smile
Howlin Wolf and Muddy Waters leave us with a ton of songs. Which would you like to see Joe and Co. do?
I'll break the ice with some obvious choices in alphabetical order. I'm not sure if they wrote all of these but they sure made them famous! There are lots more to dream on.
Howlin' Wolf:

Back Door Man
Killing Floor
Red Rooster
Shake for Me
Spoonful (Joe kills this as I heard it once.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cedzOqg8cHc

Muddy Waters:
Gypsy Woman
Mannish Boy
Rock Me
Rollin' and Tumblin'
She's Nineteen Years Old.

What a legendary discography to pick from!

Have fun!
Rick

Re: Red Rocks Set List?

Saw in Wyoming News Interview that Joe will now play some of his own Material, hope he brings out a new but oldie for the 3 shows

"When She Dances" would be wonderful on a Strat with Reese Wynans or something like Travellin' South to Boogie it up

Love this idea Michael.  Saw the same interview, whatever he picks you know he will slay it

Knowing Joe, he will most likely pick some obscure songs from both Muddy and Howlin Wolf hat have not been covered that much

Re: Red Rocks Set List?

Since Joe will be doing a set of his own material as well, Phil brought up an interesting idea. Wouldn't it be so cool if Joe did some songs from the Borderline show since Michael Rhodes and Anton Fig are playing with him. Some cool stuff like, I Know Where I Belong, Burning Hell, The River, Pain and Sorrow, etc. A person can daydream can't they?

You think Joe is going to play with just two others while his special band sits and watches? Not a chance. It will have a few tracks from the new release and lots of tribute songs. If you want a clue, look at his favorites from Howlin Wolf. He's said that the power trio days are done. Borderline was a one off last chance to see that era. http://thepickupradio.com/p/shows/wolf-tracks.php Evil, Killing Floor, Who's Been Talking (gotta have that screenshot of the man), and more smile

I said it was a daydream didn't I. He's doing two sets one of the "Muddy Wolf" and one of his own material, so obviously what I expect from the set containing his own material is some of the new songs and the usual John Henry, Mountain Time and Sloe Gin. Much like what has been on the recent tours with hopefully a few more of the new songs. But it's always fun to entertain the notion of him doing some older stuff he hasn't done in a while.

Re: Red Rocks Set List?

I think it would be really cool if Joe had Muddy Waters son Mud Morganfield at Red Rocks! What an addition to the tribute that would be!  mudmorganfieldsite.com   cool
