Re: Pittsburgh May 6th?

Airportdon - you and your wife are caught clearly in the pic joe posted on Instagram last night!  Sherry and I were just outside the edge.

Yes - I wanted to say both new songs were great as were the new guitars. It was great to see and hear Joe making a strat scream a little in a show along with the Les Pauls.

Awesome awesome show. Can't wait until Columbus and Youngstown.

You have not experienced what a truly emotion filled solo is until you have seen Joe play Sloe Gin in person.

Re: Pittsburgh May 6th?

The morning after and I'm still stunned.  This was just my 5th Joe show but that sensation never changes.

First time front row seats were out of this world.  Joe stood elevated, 12 inches away from us playing Blues Deluxe...it was so astounding it brought tears to my eyes, couldn't help it or stop.  People nearby kept asking my daughter "Is she really crying???!"  It was nearly the best night of my life.

Joe's talent is simply unbelievable.  He and the guys joking around, laughing, smiling, having a terrific time.  Sound was superb.  Yes the lights-in-the-eyes were a slight problem but I didn't have the time to hardly notice, so fixated on Joe.

Extremely happy to spend some time with MDiturno, airportdon, Rogue, and rachelfriend.  So sorry to miss you, Bonaddicted and blues&tattoos.  Took a Bonavirgin from work who is now fully converted....love that feeling!

Yes Mike, we did snag a Tal drumstick - woowoo.

The only thing left to do now is plan for Columbus and Youngstown in November!

A heartfelt Thank You to Joe and the guys.       :pray

Re: Pittsburgh May 6th?

I'm really sorry that I wasn't keeping up on this thread, so I missed the pre-show invite. Ah well, maybe next year!

I liked the show review by Bonaddicted, picked most my the points I would. My wife is a casual admirer of Joe's, and knows I am a big fan, so accompanies me to concerts. Her only complaint related to Joe was the retina-burning lightshow. That was a bit much.

Will concur that the acoustic set was amazing, liked seeing the non-traditional musicians.

We were in row F, right of center. Sadly the Jolly Green Giant had a seat in front of me. So I spent most of the concert leaning right to see around the wall. On top of that he was bobbing his head like an 80s headbanger, which was simultaneously amusing and annoying!

To his right (and in front of us) was a Stevie Nicks-wannabe who NEVER once shut up, loudly talking to her date. I sincerely doubt she knew whose concert she was attending. Date was recording and texting the whole time. Thankfully they left early.

I would have thought Joe would make a mention of the Pens given the playoffs were going on, but no matter. And the loudmouths just revealed themselves, well I'll leave it at that.

Back to the concert: Lenny was amazing, actually broke the drum head!! I have never seen that before. The duet with the drummer was excellent.

As was JB of course; he does in fact get better every time I see him. I'm not as impressed with his playing speed as his choice of notes and phrasing (yep, I play guitar), and the quieter moments impressed me the most!

All in all, excellent!

((HUGS)) Sally!  Jay and I enjoyed having a drink with you and your group of *wonderful* people!

Like you, I shed a few tears last night.  Jay thought I was crazy, but I'm a super-emotional person and LOVE Joe!

I really do want my drumstick back ;-)  Much love and hugs to my new Bonafriend!  You ROCK & ROLL!

Love your review. Totally understand the crying, he did it to me too. Glad you had front row to witness the magic.

Perhaps it was a sit down strike, staged to protest the fact that you skipped us last year. Please don't skip us again, two years without you are two years for us to find other bands to fall in love with.

-10 for skipping us last year.

How many times do we have to tell those who don't know, Joe doesn't GO TO THE SAME CITIES/STATES each year. The last time he was in Pittsburgh was May 12, 2012.  You've got to give him credit, he does try to be far and do concerts so all he's fans can go see him!
