Topic: Is it really true?

BonaMetal,  No way!  (I must confess I realized it earlier today and decided to get it over with so here are some thoughts)

You know my goal when I joined this forum was to find out why I could not stop listening to Joe’s music. I thought  perhaps  all of you  had the answer but no after 1000 posts, I still do not know what to call that thing, Joe has, that fills up that empty spot in my heart.   I have tried to make jokes about it; to be serious about it, to share it with all of you and anyone else who would listen but still no definitive answers have  been found.  Then my goal was to meet Joe.  I figured if I saw him up close and personal and saw that he is just a human being like us I would not need to listen anymore and I would be done with this crazy obsession. Foolish of me I know.  I met him at the Louisville show and was only more entranced.   He seems so normal, somewhat shy, very sweet to us silly fans and then  later after the meet and greets, we know what happens, those guitars just make him crazy and the Bona Maestro emerges. Therefore, I have for the most part stopped trying to understand  or analyze it and instead just say whatever it is; I never want to lose it.  Thank you to my fellow bonaholics for your patience with my goofy questions on gear, music or totally frivolous topics.   A few shouts outs are due so Thank You to those I remember at this moment:

What fun the past two years have been. Met some of you  at shows,, Facebooked or Tweeted with others.  Thanks for sharing this crazy love of Joe Bonamassa with me.

To the man  himself, Joe, Thanks for the music, fun and sheer joy of watching you  play.  Accept my apology for acting like I know you. It is only the love of your music that makes me  like this.  Forever in your debt!

Mary aka Wvgirlinky

(P S  this won’t count unless I get a Bona Bah from Rocket. smile

Re: Is it really true?

Congrats Mary!
There is no explanation for your bonaaddiction.
Joe just hits your musical sweet spot. When I first stumbled upon Joe and got it,I wondered  the same thing.Seemed I was the only one affected like that when I played his music to others. Not that people didn't like Joes music, but it didn't have the same intense effect.
So when I came here it was a relief that I wasn't alone!

Re: Is it really true?

Congratulations on Boname(n)tal!  It really isn't all that easy to get there in a meaningful way.

Don't even bother trying to figure out WHY Joe does to us what he does.  I have been going to see him for almost ten years now and still haven't figured out the why.  What I do know is that in these last ten years my life has changed in a very good way.  Thanks to Joe and his music I have people I consider close friends all over the world (ten years ago I wouldn't get on an airplane for anything), and it is so much fun plotting ways we can all get together even if it isn't a "Joe" event.  Because of Joe allowing photography at shows (I have always loved the challenge of concert photography) my love of photography was rekindled as well and a hobby I enjoyed as a younger person has once again re-entered my life in a very enjoyable way.  I can't play a guitar but I sure do like to take pictures of them and Joe offers a never ending variety of new material in that department.  The world of Joe is just that - a whole world of nice people who love and enjoy a very nice person who also happens to be a kick-butt guitarist and musician.

Don't question - just enjoy.  Looking forward to the next of your thousand.

Sandy

"There's a lot of people that are in so much of a hurry to be, I guess, to be famous or that they don't want to take the time to learn to play and do all that. They'd rather just knock it down off a computer and maybe get on a game show and get famous..That's fine if that's what you want to do.

Re: Is it really true?

My dear Mary,

I have a bit of a special bond with you for several reasons, but the simplest is that we signed up on this Forum about the same time.  I felt like we were sisters, growing up side by side among the faithful.

We all know what you mean about Joe, just nothing like it.  He inspires us, he excites us, he entertains us, he makes us feel all warm and fuzzy inside!  He relieves us of our troubles and lets us know somehow that things aren't so bad and encourages us to move forward and not give up.  How can you not love a guy like that.

I wish someday soon we will meet in person at a Bonavent.  Your posts are always anticipated and appreciated.

Good going Mary!  BIG CONGRATS!    :ch      We have certainly come to luv you!   :hug

I need some Joe...NOW.

Re: Is it really true?

Congratulations on 1000! You certainly don't need to try and explain your addiction to us, since we are all fellow addicts, LOL! It is an amazing thing and for people who are not caught up in Joe world like the rest of us, it is very difficult to fully convey what it all means and how it makes us feel. There is something very special about Joe and I'm not referring to just his incredible musical talents, but the fact that such a wonderful group of kind, supportive people are drawn to him. I'm very happy we finally got to meet you and your husband, Mary. And no doubt we will see you again at some show in the future. Enjoy the music and enjoy the company, because we certainly enjoy you being here.

Natasha

Re: Is it really true?

Thanks for the kind words from all of you.  Sally I agree, I must admit I look for you if you are not on here some days.   Natasha and Erin, how lovely to have met you both.  Sandy, I love your photos and I am glad that Joe inspired you to do it.  Seems like a re occurring them for some that Joe has moved them from one place to a new and exciting world.
Gary, Your words summed it up I am relieved that I am not alone.

Re: Is it really true?

Thanks for your comments.  I have never had quite as much to say about anything as I do Joe

Re: Is it really true?

Congratulations Mary. You are a great addition to the family here.
The reason?

It's those bright golden wings he envelops us with.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Congratulations!!  A great 1000th post.  After reading these last few BonaMetal posts ... like Coach's recent ... I've decided I will change my Username when I reach 999 in a few years and start over.  (Not enough time for me to write one as well.)

Best wishes towards 2000.
