I've done sound, set and produced shows.. that last place you approach a 'roadie' or performer is at the venue after a show and say "man that sucked"

It's called balance of sound and all sound guys have a different set of ears and in this 'modern' day and age, the sound boards usually come with some sort of sound analysis tool that gives a number of parameters of the sound including the spl.
There are two distinct places for sound, the first few rows that get the mix from the stage and the rest of the place that basically get it from the Front of the House line array's.
defiantly two different sound sections.
sometimes we just need to balance with our ears and not the technology...

I agree also, this guy seems to be taking a beating for expressing his disappointment at one of Joe's shows. Isn't this where Joe wants show reviews posted, so they can correct mistakes, etc.

I mean nothing bad to you, either.  But recheck that post.  Pretty much over the top.  Worst out of 100's of concerts? Really?  Is that believable to anyone using logic as a standard? Hell no.*  Hyperbole, raising a ruckus, that ain't no concerned quiet church mouse squeaking about not enough crumbs left.  All insults and indignation.  Even Gmac has to agree, "(As long as it's done in a constructive and non-insulting way, of course)."  SO, who is "mean" (not to me) and out of line (with principled words for intelligent conversation opening)?  Or as Forrest, Forrest Gump would say. "Stupid is as stupid does..."  Call all of it my opinions, but there is a difference between mean, meant, and meaningful, and I call 'em as I seize 'em. wink big_smile

I once went to see Coldplay live in concert and I can honestly say that of all the 100 or so concerts I’ve been to this had the worst sound I’ve ever experienced. The sound mix was just awful. And it doesn’t matter if I tell you this politely or rudely, nothing changes the fact that this is my honest opinion.

Now, NOBODY who was not at that concert AND all the other 100 or so concerts I’ve been to, no matter how big or loyal a fan they are of Coldplay, is entitled or in a position to say that my opinion is any way invalid,  wrong, improbable or illogical. And if they DID attend every single one of those concerts they are still not in a position to make that call. At best they can say they have a different personal opinion to mine.

And by the way, at the time I went to that concert I considered myself to be a big fan of Coldplay, that’s why I went to see them...and afterwards? Well, I was still a fan. These things happen...

Even fools say something worthwhile now and again

Thank you for your response, Joe, the main point I was making is that it seemed your vocals were being drowned out in the Electric set, Amazing sound in the Acoustic set.

My fiance and I attended that concert and we loved every second of the it. I wish I had posted this sooner.  Friends, did you read the article in the San Antonio Express that is posted right here in this forum. Personally, I loved the light show. You may want to bring shades to wear if lights are an issue for you. I was in 7th heaven the whole time. As was the majority of the crowd, if you count the fact that they were screaming with ecstasy.

In the debate here regarding the sound, I don't think anyone discussed what the root of the problem actually seemed to be.  Apparently, the audience in San Antonio, TX strongly believes in "participating" in the Bonamassa experience.  They shouted and wolf-whistled at Joe without mercy.  Talk about not hearing Joe, I bet he could barely hear himself many times. However, he's a brave soul, and since he has been there in the past, he handled it with his usual good grace and professionalism. He just laughed, and rolled on with it. Looking back, I feel certain he was forced to kick up the volume adjustments to compensate as much as possible for the commotion he anticipated. Of course, to judge it perfectly would be impossible. I assure you the crowd in general, was very happy, with smiling facing all around me. I was so thrilled that the guys played as long as they did. Joe is a very classy man, he and the band work hard. I thank them each and every one for the wonderful gift they share with us.
