Topic: Toni Childs

Been enjoying Live in Amsterdam!  When Rhymes plays ... the horns and Beth's voice reminded me of a song I heard in '88-'89 by Toni Childs (her name didn't come up here in a Search) called Don't Walk Away.

I rembering seeing her perform it on a national broadcast benefit show Hard Rock Cafe did for the homeless back then.  John Candy, dressed in Greek type toga with a olive leaf crown, introduced her (it was an outdoor coliseum designed stage.) This was way before Hard Rock Live's cable shows (have it on tape somewhere.)  She was up for a grammy that year .. and performed the song at that year's show (it's on YouTube.) Ran out and got the album. Her voice was a different sound from what was popular back then ... and yes ... I admit ... was listening to Poison back then too.

Just looked up her website ... she's still going.  Used kickstarter for her next album.  Offering sleepovers and other packages for financing. It is a tough business ... even with talent.

Anyway ... sorry for the wind. Here's the official video from her '88 hit.

"I was in Space for less than 2 weeks … and suddenly Jeaniene’s back … half the Band is off the gd wagon … we have comedians opening for us … and the nice kid that ran our website is now a kleptof’nmaniac.  Boy ... did you guys miss me!!"  Phil Valentine - Road Manager - Staton House Band

Wow, good to know she's still around...always loved her.
