Topic: Joe in Abilene Texas!

I still can't believe that Joe is coming to my hometown of little 'ol Abilene.

I don't live there anymore, but my Dad is still there and it's my birthday weekend so I'm getting my fill of fun, family and music.
PLUS Rockfarmer and his lovely wife are going to join us. So that makes it extra special!

Can't wait and Abilene won't know what hit them…it's gonna be epic!

I'm sure Rockfarmer will have a more detailed report than I ;-)

Cheers Y'all!

Re: Joe in Abilene Texas!

Ready for Joe tomorrow night! His show in Lubbock, Texas 12/4/2013 was the best, EVER! Looking forward to seeing my friends faces, new to Joe, when he takes the stage. Heads will be bopping and faces mesmerized. They'll be astonished!
(No thanks needed, I love sharing the Bonagospel) Would <3  confirmation of his set list. I hope he performs Dust Bowl. It's fitting for West Texas today.  A lil Slow Gin, too. Yeah!

Re: Joe in Abilene Texas!

I hope you get Dust Bowl too! It was one of my favorites at the Yakima show 3/27.

Heres a video I put together from Fridays show. It wont let me post the link so just do a search on Youtube.

Joe Who?? That's Joe Bonamassa Live in Abilene, TX April 4 2014

Re: Joe in Abilene Texas!

I'd choose to come to this venue because it was aa small enough then you were the sound would be awesome, to my utter displeasure I found the next to be horrendous.the mixed was all washed out on the bottom and for you couldn't distinguish bass player from the drums, the keys and organwere covered up by all the low in noise at the venue and you could not understand Joe singing at all it when the band was at full tilt, it was a terrible mix. I waited for the magic to happen when Joe would start to play from his heart unfortunately it never happens for me. realistically I can't blame the venue, and it could be partially because of the tight schedule getting  loaded in and loaded out... anyway, I could go on and on, but I'm not here the bash Joe, I was just disappointed in the show.

Re: Joe in Abilene Texas!

Hey we can't say enough about the great show we saw Friday night in Abilene! It blew me away! After a really rough week of work, I was dragging to get to Abilene in time for the concert but I am so glad we went. It was just the tonic I needed. I face Monday morning rocked out, revived and sooooo happy! Joe-please come back soon! We will be watching your tour schedule for another opportunity to see you. I could go on and on about how much I loved the concert! Thank you!

Re: Joe in Abilene Texas!

I have seen Joe in 6 different cities and think this was my favorite show and it was because the audience was actually listening.
I agree that there were some "rough spots" in the sound, but I have never been to a Joe show where during the quiet moments, people didn't whoop & holler too much and become distracting.
Also, I have never witnessed 7 standing ovations...and that was before the encore!
I am so pleased that Joe & Company were so well received.
Cheers! Y'all!

Re: Joe in Abilene Texas!

Yeah this was my first time to see Joe but believe me it won't be my last. I totally agree with you about the audience and you know if there were a few "rough spots" - it is live music and I just kind of expect some of that. The Abilene Civic Center was a new venue for the band and that could account for some of the sound issues we are referring to. Live music is raw and sometimes imperfect but the interaction between Joe and the audience was flawless. We had to make sure we had enough cd's to tide us over until the next time we see him! The sound on the cd's is perfect but man, in my opinion there is no substitute for a live experience like we had Friday night. Loved it!

Re: Joe in Abilene Texas!

Great show and great audience in Abilene. I drove 400 miles to see what I knew would be a wonderful show by Joe B. and company, and the Abilene audience made the show spectacular. Hat's off to the folks in Abilene, Texas!
