Topic: Salt Lake City, 5 hours till JB unleashes the Tone on a Sunday Night!!

I'm ecstatic for tonights sets, as a whole but when the Les Pauls are released that's the creamy goodness my ears love best. Blow us away tonight Joe as you all ways do!

Caught the show tonight. It was frickin great. So many great tones and great musicians letting all out. The acoustic set up front was spot on even when Joe grabbed the wrong guitar and switched to the right one on the QT. When the electrics came out it was Sonic Heaven! It seams like he just gets better with time.

Great show!  I am always amazed at the incredible talent this man has, and also, that of his band mates.
The only low point for me, was that I didn't get Joe's autograph on a picture from the Black Country Communion show at the Depot (SLC, UT.).  It was going to be a Birthday present for my son in law, who was also in the same picture with Joe...  (had a copy for Joe's Scrapbook, too.)
Geez, there was only 4 of us at the bus.  Sorry, you wasn't feeling better Joe.
Thanks for the great show!  It was incredible and well worth the money.
Hang in there, hope, to see Joe next time?

Re: Salt Lake City, 5 hours till JB unleashes the Tone on a Sunday Night!!

The evening was sonic perfection and mind blowing with all the talent up on that stage for both sets!. Bogie coming out was epic cool seeing him behind the kit, I was so in the moment I didn't capture it in picture as I was spell bound by Blues Deluxe. That new song (the second of the electric set) was soooooo heavy OMG Joe, Joe, you are channeling some very strong energy!!!!!

Thank you for a wonderful evening as everyone walking out of the hall were in awe from what you and the fellas put together...PERFECTION!!!!

Great Pictures JT1960, much appreciated!
Man, if Joe would have been around in the 1960-70's, no one could have touched him!
I have seen Cream, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, the Who, BB King, Santana, Bruce, West and Lang, etc.
Joe could have easily blown every one of them away.
But, I sure am glad we have him here and now, because, he brings it all home.
And, that is not all Joe's got.  smile
Thanks again.

Drove down from Bozeman, Montana for the show Sunday night at Abravanel Hall in Salt Lake City.  It was incredible!

I've been following Joe for about 10 years now and continue to be amazed.  What a player and artist!

Keep up the great work!!!

good to be enthusiastic, but the bands you named have written big parts in music history and will not and never be blown away by JB. he is fantastic, but not comparable with those bands. there was another time and another spirit when they had their great time.......................and it was new.

Re: Salt Lake City, 5 hours till JB unleashes the Tone on a Sunday Night!!

I think you both make fine points, each in your own way.  I get Firerizer's sentiment.  Completely.  But I also agree that it's probably more appropriate to say that he deserves inclusion with that legendary class of musicians.  This was my fifth time seeing Joe play, dating back to 2005, and I love the way his performance continually expands and evolves, while always approaching perfection.  His 2009 show at the Depot was the closest I've ever come to having a religious experience, and I will never forget it.  Beyond that, I believe Joe also deserves credit for modernizing the sound and seeking new directions while keeping the general styles and traditions alive.

One thing I do find annoying is the tendency to discount other fine performers for the sake of honoring a favorite -- not so much in this case, as this is Joe's site, after all, and the post-concert excitement is hard to restrain -- but other locations like YouTube.  Joe is far and away my favorite musician of all time, but I also appreciate others like Derek Trucks (especially the Tedeschi Trucks Band) and Tab Benoit.  Viewing their videos on YouTube, you don't have to scroll too far down the list of comments before you find someone bad mouthing Joe while proclaiming their personal favorite the new king of this or that ... I guess I just don't understand that need, nor the inability to simply appreciate them all for their individual talents.  Interesting that it always seems to be Joe they want to compare everyone else to ... but my point is that it's all so unnecessary.

Just venting a little here.  Thanks for listening.  I feel a little better.  Now I'll go plug in one of the Tour de Force Blu-rays and feel better still.

Re: Salt Lake City, 5 hours till JB unleashes the Tone on a Sunday Night!!

I definitely agree with you Thomas.
It was not my intention to degrade the music of the earlier era's, nor, any artist.
Having lived through the 60's and survived, I would not change anything of a musical nature during that period of time.  I am truly grateful for those experiences and to those artists that made for very interesting times.
I guess my sentiment was that Joe Bonamassa's technical skills could have definitely held his place had he been in that time period. ( And, I would have camped out for a chance at his tickets, then, also.  smile  )
I am purely appreciative that he has provided his talents and gifts to the present times.
