Re: California Breed Release

I definitely like it! In fact I pre-ordered the album. I've listened to Sweat Tea a dozen times or so in the car and I totally dig it. personally, I like it for its simplicity compared to BCC (especially 2 and Afterglow). It's more straight-up Rock n' Roll and less showing off. Yes, I did feel at times that BCC did a little too much showing off instead of playing for the song itself. For me, California Breed sounds more youthful and raw, and I like that very much. And for what it's worth, any comparisons between Joe and Andrew are simply nonsense; two different players with completely different styles.

Re: California Breed Release

Jim,
Maybe don't set yourself up to be "flamed", jabbed at etc.. Could just have said you didn't like the song and followed the knowingly-implied advice that nobody should make any of this discussion personal.

I didn't really care for the track. Regardless of who was on it, doesn't make a difference to me. I didn't hate it either but would definitely give a listen to future released material.

Re: California Breed Release

I agree with you on the song itself, but don't understand why you came out swinging in your initial post. It appears to me with those comments that you were expecting some backlash from others just because you are a moderator. We ALL know that you are capable of killing any topic for any reason, doesn't have to be said. I think you have been very fair in the past, don't have any criticism. This however seems way off base for a forum member regardless of status. You are a forum member first, a moderator secondly. I don't care for Glenn either, or his voice, but your opinion of him has colored your comments, rather distasteful to me. So maybe now you have a reason to axe the topic? For God's sake man, it's one song and one new band, nothing more. Joe's not going to comment on anything that Glenn is a part of because it would be a no win situation, nothing to be gained and more than likely would be taken the wrong way. No, I'm not attacking you, just take down the mod shield and be one of us.

Unfair.

People will either like it or not, but this is also not a place for elephant feet from the so-called mods. You have been extremely heavy handed in the past...and I'd rather Joe have the last say if it got too bad.
It's music. It's all good. Don't listen to it otherwise.

I can disagree with your assessment of my forum moderating style as I gave my honest opinion on this subject as well as other subjects here in Other Artists. I was fully prepared for an ensuing flaming of my personal opinions and that is what I meant by my willingness to zap this thread if it happens. You are free to voice your opinion here just as I did. You like California Breed that is your right and it is also mine to not. Only good music is good in my opinion. So just to be clear. I won't tolerate jabs at me or anybody else and this is not the Glenn Hughes forum so I can decide whether or not ideas can be exchanged on this subject, that is my call. Joe jumps in the fray it may stay but if you attack me it will go.

Thanks for the wise words. I will heed them. wink

Sorry, but I found the video comical at best

I also couldn't stand to listen after the first GH scream.

If I had to guess I say GH is a full blown narcissist.

Re: California Breed Release

Personally, I look forward to their second album "Smell The Glove"...

Re: California Breed Release

It's got at least one over the top glowing review so I am looking forward to hearing more of it.I don't  think the video is anything special just showing the bands energy.
GH still has the rock and roll energy

Colour me unimpressed about this one. Interestingly this thread is currently running along side Rival Sons, and of the 2, I know which I prefer.

Frankly, I have had the same impression after watching the vid.

I also had a feeling, that there is no unity in the project. Each group member plays his own part. Plays well, I guess, but there is no "glue".

IMO.

I can totally see that GH is full of himself.  I have everything Joe has ever committed to video except BCC Live Over Europe.  I just can't stand to watch him do that "rock star preen", and that thing he does with his mouth.

Always will be a fan of Glenn, love the album smile

Re: California Breed Release

I thought the song was okay - I didn't turn it off halfway through, but it didn't blow me away either.  I'd want to hear more of the album before buying.  The video was a little cheesey, but it's a video, I don't really care.  The song was decent, I'd like to hear more.  Not liking it as much as BCC, though.

Re: California Breed Release

Dig the song....

Don't dig the "flexing" displayed in an earlier post.

Re: California Breed Release

Two positive things about the song. Didn't sound like Glenn nor did it look like him. wink
