Topic: The Power of Music

Not for the faint hearted.  In my life I've heard some great song-writing but to be honest had become a bit jaded with the current crop of Bob Dylan wannabes.  I knew of Jason Isbell when he was in Drive By Truckers but it has been as a solo artist that this guy's come into his own.  This song touched me like no other song I've ever heard.  His use of using the F-bomb on first listen brought a wtf response, but upon further thought the word punctuated the anger of those that have to carry on with their lives.  The last time I remember somebody writing a song like that was John Lennon's "Working Class Hero" in the early 70's.

I dedicate this song to my beloved Mitzi and to all the others that have been touched by the Elephant's presence.

Jason's stock is rising.  Here's another great piece of writing honoring our veterans.  A little more upbeat as well.

Poignant lyrics and a timeless theme. I like it.

Re: The Power of Music

Hi, i've discovered Jason just some weeks ago in a forum like this. No way such music will have radio time here in Italy, so i am always late to discover the few good stuff that comes around these days.

I have to say that i'm impressed with his work and Southeastern is really a great album. Great music, because i don't play it in the background while i''m doing other stuff, but because i have to stop and sit at my favorite chair, put on my headphones and listen to it like i used to do a long time ago. In this super fast, always moving modern times, that doesn't happen very often anymore!

Thanks for the links, great music!
