Topic: BCC replaced with California Breed? Hughes/Bonham

hmm

http://bluesrockreview.com/2014/03/cali … -20th.html

Former Black Country Communion bandmates Glenn Hughes and Jason Bonham are back with a new rock band, California Breed. The two are joined by 23-year-old guitarist Andrew Watt to form rock’s newest power trio.

Hughes was introduced to Watt by Julian Lennon.

“Literally, the first day me and Andrew got together we wrote two songs,” recalls Glenn. “One was ‘Chemical Rain’ and the other was ‘Solo’, both of which are now on the finished album. I was so moved by the music, I said, ‘We’ve got to record this!’ That’s when I called Jason.”

The trio’s self-titled debut album was produced by Dave Cobb and will be released on May 20, 2014.

Re: BCC replaced with California Breed? Hughes/Bonham

Been following Glenn's posts and read the report via Classic Rock.

Don't know much about Watt. He's young and has been forging a solo career. He sings well, looks right and can play more importantly. This is a good platform for him to become better known. So there's no baggage.

I, for one, hope it flies, soars even. Glenn's song ideas, later developed by BBC, were fantastic and the BCC albums remain some of the best I have bought in recent years, not least because, IMHO, they feature some of Joe's very best work. He refined BCC's hard rock edge with his style.

We'll see what Cali Breeds breeding really is, but I welcome it. Glenn and Jason are tremendous together and if Andrew Watt's playing, youth and vigour provide another focal point then the band has a real future. The 3 piece element means Glenn hasn't tried to recreate BCC, which personally I find a shame as that band hand the material and even without JB it hadn't run its course. But who knows what managerial and legal baggage might have been associated with doing that?

I can't wait. I'm hoping for a great debut album with a lot of drive. Bring it on!

Re: BCC replaced with California Breed? Hughes/Bonham

Sweet Tea sounds rocking/BCC-like. You can tell Cobb has had his hands at it...the drums sound like ten tons...too much on the kick. No need to increase the heaviness of Jason.
