I originally planned to but then decided that Milano is more convenient. Detailed report please.

Re: Basel 5th of March

Basel, Musical Theater (ca. 1600; sold out)

Acoustic set:
Woke Up Dreaming, Seagull, Jelly Roll, Black Lung Heartache, Around the Bend, Jockey Full of Bourbon, Ball Peen Hammer, Athens to Athens;
Electric set :
Dust bowl, Oh Beautiful, Who's Been Talking, Midnight Blues, Slow Train, Driving Towards The Daylight, Love ain't a love song, Sloe Gin, The Ballad of John Henry

Encore:
Django / Mountain Time

Excellent evening with 145 minutes of great music plus a 15 minutes-break between acoustic and electric part of the show. The two new songs worked, especially "Oh Beautiful" might become a classic in JB's live repertoire. "Love ain't a Love Song" is a nice piece to offer a solo to every musician on stage.
There was only one detail to complain about: The P&A in the electric set was not perfectly balanced (even for those who sat right in the middle of the hall): Loud parts almost totally covered Joe's singing. And the Percussions appeared over emphasized (especially the bell: too much treble) so the Percussions dominated the rhythm-section, even Tal's drumplay. "Great finale" with all musicians on stage for "Mountain Time".

Re: Basel 5th of March

Sorry, forgot to mention the artists when I wrote "Great Finale with all musicians on stage":
Joe Bonamassa : Guitars  und Vocals (Acoustic and Electric part)
Lenny Castro : Percussion (A and E)
Mats Wester ; Nyckelharpa, Mandolla (A)
Gerry O' Connor : Fiddle, Banjo, Mandoline (A)
Derek Sherinian : Keyboards, Piano, Wurlitzer (A and E)
Tal Bergman ; Drums (E)
Carmine Rojas : Bass (E)

Re: Basel 5th of March

So no Stones in my passway in the set?

Re: Basel 5th of March

Stones in my passway was in the set. After Jockey Full of Bourbon.

I agree with pretty much everything you said Oetzi - it was odd that Lenny Castro's percussion was the only thing that consistently cut through the mix, even when Joe was playing with everything at maximum! I found that at times during the acoustic set Joe's voice got a bit lost too, which is a shame because he has a great voice.
Nevertheless - it was a fantastic gig by incredibly talented musicians. It was great to see the normally very reserved Swiss (I'm an ex-pat) loosening up and enjoying it too.
Let's hope Joe comes back to Basel, this gig sold out quickly so he's definitely got a following here.
