Topic: Pat Travers,JB ,Eric Johnson,Walter Trout

No This is not Pat Travers but just a PT fan. I caught up with him at the granada in Dallas,Texas the other night. It was the seventh time I have saw him and by far the best I have seen of him. You could really tell he enjoys what he is doing. Anybody else in JB land catch that show. Cant wait to see JB for the fourth time at the Granada July 20th and also Eric Johnson on August 4. Just curious has anybody bought the new Walter Trout cd full circle. The song JB does on that cd is just awesome. Cant believe Joe wrote that song and just gave it away. Just shows what an unselfish kind of guy Joe is.

I bought Walter's new CD at his show in St. Paul this week. Overall it's a very good record, but the song that Joe is featured on is great and in my opinion the best one on the CD. Here's part of what the liner notes say about Joe and the song:

"We had a good laugh over the fact that neither of us has been a favorite of the "blues purist" critics. Joe said: "Let's give 'em the reason they hate us." We wrote "Clouds On The Horizon" in the studio and played it one time - no rehearsal! This is what you hear on the CD. We are both having a ball on this cut. Joe was born to play guitar. He is destined for big things!!! Thanks, Joe - you are the real deal."

You bett. I think "Clouds on the Horizion" is the best song on that cd. It really smokes.

PatTravers81, welcome aboard.  Do you post on the PT forums at all?  I post there as PurpleHaze62.  Met several people from there, it's pretty cool...been trying to turn some people on to Joe there also.  Check it out at pattravers.com/discus
Stop by and say hello if you're not a poster there already.

Pat is really cool...been a fan of his since the late 70's and he still sounds great.  Looking forward to seeing him next month in Springfield, VA.  His drummer and bassist are super-approachable and amazing musicians themselves.

Once again, welcome.

Keep on rockin' the blues

PT81:

There are indeed many PT fans on this Board. I have also followed him since the late 70's and he seems to be like a fine wine, better with age. His licks and pipes have stayed very strong. I am listening to Powertrio II as we speak. A class act and a great person to talk with.
I am lookin forward to getting Trout's new one. Have heard the tune with Joe, and it rocks hard. The other tracks should be great also.
Eric Johnson came thru Portland last month and put out a stellar show with Joe Satriani. I can't get enough of one of Texas finest.
Hope you have been able to check out Jimmie Suhler at Deep Ellum Blues. A real great guitarist that I heard has Joe playing on his next album.
Welcome to the Board.

The other cool connection that Joe has with PTB is that Pat Thrall wails some excellent licks on You & Me. Thrall indeed kicks some major booty with trading guitar licks with Joe. It is an album that has to be turned up to "11" to fully appreciate.
